Hey

Just filing through some threads and it seems to me that alot of people think getting a white paint job is a bad idea..

I have a zxr250 that needs a respray I was thinking about getting it done white but I might be starting to change my mind..

So is white really that bad?

I also own a white bike (RSVR) and have noticed an increase in the number of bikes coming out in this fine colour. In fact, I even started a thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=83816) about it:

I recently heard a comment stating that white is apparently the new black (this was used in the context of a Lamborghini). If you take this statement and apply it to bikes, I would have to agree with it considering we’re seeing the bikes becoming predominantly more white and manufacturers suddenly bringing them out when we’ve never really seen them in that colour before. Just take the 848, for example.

Here are a few of the 08/09 models to prove my point:

Ducati 848 (http://www.psndealer.com/dealersite/images/bmwpgh/848%20white480.jpg) and now the 1198
KTM RC8 (http://www.1000hp.net/magazin/ktm/ktm_rc8_test/ktm_rc8_testbericht_10.jpg) and Superduke (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/bhkami/990sdwh08-700.jpg)
BMW K1300R (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Mvhjidbvdzc/SOtdzjo0lEI/AAAAAAAAIkI/hEYQAA_1tws/s200/k13r+5.jpg) and K1300S (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Mvhjidbvdzc/SOo6u3ANMUI/AAAAAAAAIho/9K_bj9lpxgI/s200/k1300s+5.jpg)

Aprilia RSVR (http://www.ufomotorcycles.com/images/newbikes/RSVR08WHITE.jpg) and Shiver (http://www.maxmoto.co.uk/images/Aprilia%20Shiver%20White%202.jpg)

So, what's the verdict. Is white the new black?

Nothing wrong with white, I quite like it.

It is very easy to dress up a white bike with a few decals or pinstrips (white is a bit of a blank canvis in my mind)

It's not a colour, it's an absence of colour!

It's what you choose if you don't want a colour, "Ah bugger it - I wont bother with colour"

One would assume that if a white helmet is more noticeable to other road users then, a white bike would also make you more visible. I would like to point out however,.... thats just my logical conclusion, not necassarily a fact.
I was passed by some dude on what looked like a brand new Ducati 696 on the Northern motorway not too long ago. The white version...... it looked friggin mean as !!!! apparently not as fast as the red one, i've heard.

Hmmmm - I have formed an opinion on white as a bike colour over the years - few can pull it off - Speed/Street triple can, occasional HD, a random euro bike, and an occasional Jap one.

Many, many can not yet some dork in marketing gives them the tick - just check out a white M109R - but bring a paper bag.

You do run the risk of looking like you have mounted a giant sperm .........

White pearl can't be all that great. Or beloved Alister wouldn't be seen dead on a white tiger <_< Seems happy with his black one though. Tiger that is.

He wanted a white Tiger Bonez, but none available at the time. Tiger's look awesome in white, though they're not a pearl.

The white kwaka on the fairing doesn't work somehow. Maybe its just coz it looks a little grubby. The rest of your bike is going to have to be real real clean.

Don't worry too much about what other people think dude, as it's your bike. You have to live with it at the end of the day.

The white might make people think you're a :Police:
Good that they might give you more room... but bad that they might drive extra slowly if they see you in the rear vision mirror
I quite like white :Punk:

You could always paint it white and then cover it with all kinds of stickers, that way you won't see its white LOL

Nothing really wrong with white, my old CBR was blue, red & white.

Only issue was my wheels were white, fine for front, but the back wheel got dirty pretty quickly from the exhuast!
