If this is not posted elsewhere:

I have met Simon several times around the world and in NZ (last time was at trackday in Taupo in April tis year) and he is seriously one of the nice guys in the racing world.
I hope this ends well.

You're 100% correct. Simon is a real GC...and I hope he's back to his normal self asap!

Never met the guy but he was one of the most spectacular riders in SBK as I recall.
"Backing it into a corner" was a phrase made for him.

A real nice guy, and he was just awesome in '98. Apart from smoking Doohan at Donington he had a blinder at Phillip Island that year too.

Love this photo - the look on Doohan's face is great:lol: Take that ya aussie wanker!

Wonder when we'll ever see something like this again?

Get well soon. Hope the spinal injury is not too serious.

Heard him on the radio talking about the accident the other day, sounds like a real hard case. Apparently his first thought when he thought he was paralised was "I cant shag my gorgous wife again!" (his words). Sounded nasty but he is on the mend.

That ride is well remembered in the motogp pits even today . Several of the long established mechanics have mentioned it.
"12secs on Doohan, where did that come from " ? Gaz.

How long was it before you could then?

And is this the normal way a judging how well someone is recuperating?

Stick to riding bikes.

Give up making medical reports. :Pokey:

I have a sudden image of Shaun coming out of his coma after his IoM crash and the first question being " nuuuurse , gasp, groan, ... how long before, gasp, moan, I can wank again, gasp, groan, moan..."

Jeez Shaun those pommie nurses are sure dedicated to their duty if she wanted to continue treatment this far down the track.
Are you sure she wasn't carrying a hatchet and screaming "I'll get you this time you little fooker!"

How did a thread about Simons status and recovery turn in to fictitious tales about Shaun?
