Was looking at getting this bike, was listed on trademe for $4000 in dargaville about a month ago, but sadly, it sold before I had the funds.

Now Red Baron have it for 6 Grand!

Tis alright though, they're good buggers there, and I've got one sorted :) . And buying from a dealer means warranty, and they always (usually) put new tyres, chain, sprockets and anything else that needs doing.

Only if it's required for a WOF. If they can get away with not fixing things, they will.

Thats how they butter their bread. Stop deliberately attempting to embarrass bike shops.

That wasn't my intention at all... merely conversation. I'd be happy to pay 6 grand for that, that way you know it's in good running order and if anything does happen they'll sort it out for you.

Don't jump to conclusion.

$6k, for a 13 year old 250?

Well, they're very sought after bikes. I'd say most of the price tag is from the learner laws thing for a 250. Those Hornets have a lot of get up and go for a 250, really nice bike to ride too. I would have bought one from Red Baron a while back when I was test riding bikes, but it was a little out of my price range. Was tempted to buy a bandit from them, but I ended up buying a Hornet privately.

Once again, this thread wasn't to poke shit, was just conversational.

$6k for a 13 Year old bike.

Makes a new one seem much better value!

I cannot get my head around why someone would part with so much money for a very old bike, when you can get a new one for not much more.

When I came to NZ I sold an 9 year old bike for 40% more than I paid for it in the UK 4 years previously. C R A Z Y

Shit, now I see this is possibly making Red Baron look bad. Sorry to any Red Baron boys reading this.

250s sell for prices like this in bike shops everywhere in NZ, I guess it's cos people on their leaner and restricted lisences are forced to stick with 250s so a decent one IS going to cost a bit.

Thats a stupid price....Should be more like $3500....

This looks a better buy....http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=217335691 And has Factory warranty Not Dealer warranty....

And a even better buy would be this....http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=221548871

And the Rg150 would smoke that Honda on some twisties and maybe even on the straight....

Crazy Steve...

Aren't these bikes $7990 brand new?
I almost bought a 1 year old model when i was sitting my L, and that was $6500. Definately wouldn't pay $6000 for a 96 model.

Well, they've been good to me whenever I've good there stressed about my bike. Went out of their way to get my bike done then and there.

At first I didn't like that exhaust that's on it, but then I changed my mind, I prefer it.

The trademe pics do it more justice:

wow, so they actually brought a bike and are trying to mark it up 2g... what assholes.

as i said, go private.

I think there was a dude on here (choco) was trying to sell his hornet.

Metalor

Well, it's fair enough though, business is business. They have to mark bikes up, otherwise dealerships wouldn't exist at all. They do the same with bikes they get over from japan etc. I didn't wanna direct any shit towards them....

Cheers dude, I've got one lined up already, put a deposit down, flyin to palmerston next friday (unless I can get a lift with someone) to pick it up and ride her back. I went and test rode choco's one, was too slow in getting the cash of the ex to go and hand the money over though!
