Hi All,

We wanted to get Mr Whippy for our wedding in December, however, the guy who has the Downtown Auckland franchise has decided not to answer my e-mails and when I ring asks me to e-mail him.

Hilariously, forwarding my original e-mail to Mr Whippy to ask them to forward it to him (I figured I may have got the wrong e-mail address, or my webmail is getting sent to his spam box) achieved nothing. It appears soft serve is a recession-proof business as these guys clearly don't want my money.

Regardless, I still want an ice cream truck at the reception. Does anyone know of a lesser-known brand (one-man band type thing, I guess) who would like some work of a Saturday evening and that I wouldn't have to just about got on my knees and beg them to please, please let me give them some cash?

Tried making my own sorbet once.

2 cups sugar, 7 oranges, 2 lemons, 2 mangoes and 1/2 bottle of vodka to prevent freezing.
Syrupy alcohol punch. What a fail.

I know of an Icecream serving caravan (i built it) that could possibly help you (they normally sell via Auckland showgrounds,very clean van). I dont think they serve soft serve, just standard flavoured icecream but not 100 percent sure on that. They also do other stuff like pikelets, slushies,milkshakes, coffee etc. Give me a PM if you would like his contact address/ph number.
Otherwise ring Tip Top, they have heaps of trailers for selling ice cream from (built two for them) and also ice cream carts.
