Ok I'm trying to get my hands on one of those little black boxes that sit above automatic door openers. You see them above shop doors all the time. They use a microwave doppler unit to sense movement nearby.
Can anyone in the trade get me one?
many thanks,
Steve

What about a PIR sensor as per a house alarm or one of those sensor lights? Or are u doing stuff with radar detectors? :Pokey:

Hehe.. I want to modulate the varactor in it with a triangle wave and use it as an FMCW distance measuring doodad. It might also be fun to play with pointing it at moving things and listening to the doppler on a speaker. It would be a cool toy I reckon.

Can you still buy a "Hot Wheels" radar gun from ToyWorld or wherever?
No doppler sound to listen to but a km/h reading. Not sure how accurate it is tho... and not sure if they still even sell them. Would be cool to play with tho

Can you still buy a "Hot Wheels" radar gun from ToyWorld or wherever?I didn't know there was a kids toy like that. I would be very surprised if they would allow such a toy these days. 24GHz is not really something you want to point at your eyes or your nads.
