Cool. My bro in law wants to get a Speedmaster or Merica at a good price.
Should be plenty of trade ins happening soon.
(If that crouching bloke from the waikato, aka Oscar snaffles one of the KR demos, I wouldn't mind a short pootle):blip:
Maybe a Nikau Caves Cafe get together in spring could be a goer.

Interesting Dave and thanks. However I don't really get it. When I rediscovered new Triumphs (with dreams of the 750 Bonnie and Norton Commando) I was keen to get one. In fact a Thruxton.

And then I started reading reviews, discussions, and specs. The new bikes were barely more powerful than the originals. Reliable, beautiful, iconic, all good stuff, but.......

Don't misunderstand, I like Triumphs, I really do, and admire them at rallys. Indeed interested enough to look at this thread.

And I'm happy with my Duc.

If you want to feel power from a Triumph take the Rocket for a spin. Or one of the 1050 Triples.
But the Bonniville series are not about power, more about that sort of x factor of classic motorcycling - something that is easier to feel than describe

Yes, but that's got four wheels so does that mean it will corner twice as fast?

Check out Thunderbike website in Nelson - with mufflers, cams and carb/EFI tickle they are pulling a lot more out of a basically stock engine!

I am surprised that Triumph has not produced a limited edition hot rod version yet. Probably on their global dominance plan though.

That's what I wondered too. The Thruxton begs to be hotted up. Maybe European regs make it impractical. With modern materials, electronics, and design, the power to weight ratio should be a lot better than in 1976.

Anyone have those figures? Even though they don't matter for Triumph classic owners. Or HD owners. :D

Not really, most of them bought into an "image"!

Thunderbird by Triumph is a motorcycle! :shifty:
