As hard as i tried I just couldn't move. I got a good bruise on my spine, hurt like hell when i coughed. from what i can gather the muscles tensed and stopped me from moving my arms and legs. then once they relaxed i could move and eventually rolled on my side. I was a tad concerned at the time but once i un-winded myself and caught my breath i gave the old limbs a good wiggle, and thats when i noticed the collar bone. Hence i was happy with the collarbone, at first i did think the worst. There is a lot to be said for a good helmet, a back protector and a descent set of gloves and leathers.

Mate, we talked about making it a 2 day event with qualifying for bikes and karts but it was a near impossible task to get resourse consents for the one day let alone 2. it didnt run in 2005 and we were soooo lucky to get it back in 2006. Still, we will keep running it as long as we are able too!!

Steve i cant imagine the hoops you have to jump thru and the 'bullshit" sorry red tape that goes with such an event.
You guys do a fanatstic job and big ups to grey district council/west coast council for coming to the party. LONG MAY IT CONTINUE:woohoo:

Any chance of running transponders and having grid possy's for all?
or would that be too much hassle to sort out on the grid?

Ya starting to take some of the fun out of it, the more serious a race meet gets the less enjoyable IMO racing in posties and buckets is as much about having fun as it is getting a position. And, its not like they have enough work already and, your idea wouldnt come cheap.

hey its just a suggestion mate
would save the whole warm up lap qualifying for anyone outside the top 10.
but yeah would be a bit more work involved for the grid crew and adding costs for transponders

That would be the perfect solution to our mixed grids. we got quotes for transponders last year and the year before. they wanted approx $60 per bike, not rider, bike!!. I guess that covers their costs of travel and system setup. From memory we got a quote from a north island guy and a southland outfit who said they would only do mx or established race tracks.
We know the bears club have some but we had over 200 bikes enter this year, 143 riders. And from all accounts its not just a plug and play thing to setup. We have no real time for qualifying either?
It was going to double the entry fee for everyone doing 2 classes so we opted to keep at as is.
I made the mistake last year of trying to seed the front 3 rows (15) riders and spent most of the night before getting abusive phone calls from riders who id never heard of telling me that they once whipped barry sheene on a C50 at the Calcutta Grand prix and that they can lap phillip island in under 30 seconds and why wernt they on the front 2 rows?:bash:
This year i only got 1 real complaint, from a bloke who ended up winning the first race from 14th on the grid.
ah, its all good fun!!!, untill ya highside:crazy:

fair enuf mate, it is good in a way cos it is easy to run (if it wasnt you guys made it look easy :2thumbsup)
also a bonus for being in the top 10 is a grid spot.
so if the top 7 or 8 from this year pull out i might even have one next year lol
