You have just washed your bike. You have ran it nicely for a few minutes for it to warm up. You may want to refrain from going under the bike and checking how shiney and smooth the header pypes are by touching them.

Yeah I've done this before... Just got back from a pootle and went to brush off some 'dust' from the headers. It wasn't as satisfying as I'd have thought dusting would be.
There was this other time, where I went to make sure the PCB on an iffy PSU wasn't overheating :( Bridged the circuit right behind the terminals, didn't I <_<

And since TOTO is obviously in this mode of operation ... remember that if you are going to be staring at girls in a servo, try and not let the drool dribble from your chin!
(also helps if they are of legal age too! :pinch:)

It is indeed a sore lesson to learn.
I remember quite vividly hopping off helenoftroy's DR650 after a quick test ride, talking a bit of shit about it.
I made a comment about the peculiar exhaust note, leaning on the exhaust as I did so.
Bad, bad move...

I like the rider who came to a stop after a bit of a ride, lost his balance and fell over. As he lay there with his bike on his leg he was thinking, "How the *&%^$ am I going to get this bike off me?", then he felt the burn of the the exhaust through his jeans and in the moment of searing pain wasn't quite sure what happened but his leg was no longer under the bike. It's amazing how intense pain can motivate you to move quickly.

Melted skin on an expansion chamber acts as a lubricant, so you could be onto something, too!

I suppose you could also wrap some potatoes with chives and bacon bits into foil and place then strategically on the pipes to have a nice snack when you done some riding then!
Or the time when I was down riding at 2am from Alexandra to Wanaka and smacked into so many bunny rabbits they got fricasseed on my lower engine block and header pipes ... smelt real delicious!
In the morning, gremlin and I discovered the charnel house that was my evil Big Ol'Hornet. Rabbit fur and baked meat everywhere! :innocent:

Don't worry TOTO your amongst good company. I call that : moments when right hemisphere of brain doesn't talk to left hemisphere. i.e. right hemisphere thinks I wonder if that wire poking out of wall is live. doesn't consult left which would say watch out electricity=danger. moves hand to touch said wire while left is going ummmm and then ZAP! Left finally awake and says shouldn't have done that.

Also, when changing the oil when the engine is warm... beware of the location of your hand when the filter is close to the headers..........

This is exactly the reason why people shouldn't let their kids touch motorbikes... children tend to touch 'shiney' things, like chrome exhausts.

reminds me of the time I pulled up at a mates place. Another person who wasn't really wanted there got a bit edgy that he couldn't get his car into the drive way, and I didn't move fast enough back to the bike to take the steering lock off, so he decided to show his strength and pivot it out of the way. One hand went to the frame on the left side, the other hand went to the big metal thing on the right.
I believe it got about an inch off the ground before he realised what that smell was...

I had just finished a race at ruapuna and was feeling how warm my tyres were( very warm) and then thought to see how warm my brake disks were...... bye bye fingerprints.
I didnt understand how my brain let that thought bypass the part that is supposed to filter out stupid ideas. But it did
