Damn. I didn't know there was a buslane in the Tron...maybe there's even more than one!!!
Found it this morning. It has a dual use...

1. It lets you filter up to the front of the line of traffic (like it should)
2. It lets you really piss off all the car drivers who get irate because they think you are "cheating" by using the bus lane...:devil2:

I hope motorbikes are allowed to use it as well. If not, ask the council to allow it.

I feel bad when I cut to the front of the cue.
Mostly because I have to ROCKET into a gap (If they even allow a cheater one), and their faces are in some kind of twisted angry/jealous mix.

Basically, if you're too slow to start moving in a lane when I'm near... That spot is miiiine :woohoo:

No worries. Never had any problems with the bus lane. If you do see one of those guys that monitor tape the bus lane to bust sneaky cars, and are afraid he'll get your plate as you ride by, just hoist the front as you go by. Can't see your plate when it's facing the ground <img src='http://www.gpforums.co.nz/images/smilies/birdies.gif'/>

It's REALLY dumb, y'know. You're actually disadvantaging other motorists LESS by lane-splitting than by sitting in the queue.
Think about it: Sitting in the queue, you're taking up a few metres, and adding to the delay that occurs as everyone leaves a gap, takes off, accelerates up to speed. If you sneak to the front, you're away before the first car/truck in the lane has even started to move.
Just think of it as a Public Service. :niceone:

I am pretty sure I have seen others too... buggered if I can remember where though. I will have to make a point of noticing next time.

all of the bus lanes over here {all as in they are all on one road } are marked as being bike lanes too,but it feels unsafe riding passed cars on the inside.feels much safer splitting

Only question is, is it allowed for Motorcycle use, most are, but to be pinged for using it when not sposed to could hurt a bit.

Its pointless for motorcycles to use it IMO. The roundabout is tiny and the queues are only big when school starts and finishes.
You can see the bus lane here (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&geocode=FZllv_0dq55yCg&split=0&ll=-37.761368,175.286822&spn=0,359.977276&z=16&layer=c&cbll=-37.761087,175.286406&panoid=ddX79_7z7EyiwK9xePkrFQ&cbp=12,106.84,,0,3.08) on the other side of the road and the tiny roundabout here (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&geocode=FZllv_0dq55yCg&split=0&ll=-37.761368,175.286822&spn=0,359.977276&z=16&layer=c&cbll=-37.762176,175.287994&panoid=lAwPEhEPlJW4PcioUZbNag&cbp=12,20.09,,0,13.84) where you would have to merge and piss off other cars because you can't be bothered to wait the 10 seconds in the queue! (no offence slofox i bet you were just caught up in the moment :bleh:)

I believe motorcycles are entitled to use the bus lane on Hukanui Rd - unsure if same applies for other bus lanes (if there are any others)

Well, that's why I always lane-split! ;)
Coming through . . . performing a public service here . . . let me through . . .

I thought that all bus lanes were for bikes unless its called a "bus service lane", there's something in the road code about it...

Reckon its a cool thing to lane split because you a) don't get held up by traffic and b) don't hold traffic up but extending the queues - apparently its part of the rules in the UK that motorcycles are encouraged to lane split.

I only ever do it when traffic is stopped tho, there's allot of cars that wander all over the lane ...

I don't think it is in the road code. I do know that the Auckland City Council have passed a by-law allowing bicycles & motorcycles to use the ACC controlled bus lanes (not to be confused with the Transit NZ controlled transit lanes on the motorway) except where specifically prohibited.

I don't know what Hamilton's by-laws say about motorcycles using the HCC bus lanes.

I think motorbikes should be able to use all bus/bike lanes. We are not only taking up less space, damaging the roads less and holding up less traffic, most of us are ... well more environmentally friendly then 1 fucker in a 5 seater (or more)car!!
