Oh FFS. How does $hit like this keep happening? It's not like there are club races happening every week. I'm not gonna start another MNZ rant as the utter stupidity of the situation yet again speaks for itself.

Subject to change, but pencil them in:
Round 4: March 7th
Round 5: April 18th
Also at Pukekohe, remember the nationals will be between Rounds 3 and 4

In the big bad world, when the track is available, clubs run race meetings. Note the reference to "When the track is available". Turn a date down and a car club will take it!! Nothing anyone can do about that. The circuit owners simply want the place rented out, preferably to Car Clubs because they pay more.

AMCC doing 5 rounds plus the Nationals at Hampton Downs, good on 'em!
The Nationals is on March 26/27 so will fall between rounds 4 & 5 (if these dates stick)
Thanks for the heads up & early warning

I'm surprised that Pukekohe would bother to stay open once Hampton downs opens

I'll be suprised if people turn up to the protecta series if they keep it at Pukekohe.

Ahhhhh. Someone with the intelligence to think before posting on KB.
Biggles. I suspect that you will spend less travelling to Taupo & Manfeild to race than you will to compete at Hampton Downs. And that is the hire structure, NOT the AMCC trying to fleece you.
Gremlin
10th August 2009, 18:47
Yeup, Hamptons is expensive to hire... maybe Pukekohe will get cheaper with Hamptons opening?
From the marshal perspective alone, Hamptons will need a little more than double the marshals compared to Pukekohe. Put into perspective, its the same number AMCC provides for Paeroa... At Paeroa, we're also bolstered by the local car club, so there are even more marshals.

Now the realities and expenses are coming out. Elevation and plenty of corners = lots and lots of track workers = expensive to run race meetings.
Gremlin
11th August 2009, 00:55
I don't think the marshals are too expensive to run... we work for a crust of bread (read a pie and sandwich) and love (read action, and chatting with the racers that don't finish)
But yes, Hamptons is simply more expensive to run a day at...
I wonder if this is partly why the Nationals (earlier this year, run over 3 days) is now being held at Hamptons, but over 2 days instead.

Gremlin, the difficulty is getting sufficient Track Workers, not the cost for home race meetings.

Getting enough volunteers has always been a problem, even at Pukekohe, especially at things like the ART Days, as they are seen as being more boring (for those that are not actually riding).
A bigger track simply makes the problem bigger... gonna be fun trying to train enough marshals, and get them to the track each time, this season... :sweatdrop

I'm hoping that the AMCC will split the championship between the two tracks that we'll have in the Auckland area sometime soonish....
I'll still ride at Pukekohe if they put a meeting on there...yes, its a bit lacking safety wise but then those that moan seem happy to race at places like Paeroa so kind of knocks the safety argument to one side?

There will be an entry form up on their website... it's not there yet though. There's a chance you could enter on the day but I wouldn't risk it - plus there might be a late entry fee. Last season the entry fee was $100 per round from memory + $20 for x-entry.

It was stated as being rounds 2 & 3 on the Saturday & Sunday. Think of it as 2 rounds in 1 weekend and you've got the idea

Well, err... lets see...
You race on both days... both days have points... etc?
Ok Seriously... ask AMCC if you want the nitty gritty details. It was indeed previously Round 2 and 3, now its one round.

Have a lookie at this too from the club sexytary!
Hi all
The first round of the PROTECTA Insurance Club Championship is planned for Sunday 4th October 2009 and we’re rearing to go. We don’t currently have an permit but that is in the pipeline. The attachment is the entry form and entries close on Thursday 1st October 2009. There will be entries on the day but get in early – it’s to your advantage.
We are offering an incentive for entering and participating at our club rounds. All pre-entries will go into a draw for a free entry to the 2nd round of the Club Series which is a 2-day meeting scheduled for 12-13th December 2009 – your pre-entry must include payment otherwise it won’t be eligible i.e. enter now and pay on the day will not qualify!
Further all entries for all the club rounds will go into a draw for a free entry to the NZ Superbike Championship which is planned for late March 2010 at Hampton Downs. So if you enter all three rounds of the Club Series, you will have 3 chances.
We’re looking forward to seeing you all at Pukekohe on 4th October.
Any queries contact me on 09-827-2719 or 0274-871-084 or email lynettet@ihug.co.nz
