In a few (emergency situations....Jap imports that there where no new ones available for months) I have used vulcanising cement on "several" bikes, and it worked perfectly.

One had a huge hole, and I cut a small section from another diaphragm and simply "glued" it in place with vulcanising glue (actually it was tyre patch glue) I never had one that didn't work!:sunny:

I think you need to work out:

What is the cost of a new one versus how much time effort parts and risk will be involved in the repair.

yep sure will, I put it in the outside carb so it would be easier to get at later.

stripped and cleaned the carbs yeterday, one step closer to being back together. Cant do it today:weep: had to promise to fit some new doors on our house
