You also have to check there is petrol in the tank, and that you turn the fuel on...

With FXRs the vanes on the water pump have a tendency to break, better check them.

Actually if its sitting 5 weeks Id be turning that fuel tap off.

Also a major modification that is required for all FXR150's would be the nylon wings like on my bike. You see because there is so much damn power, the front end wants to lift up at 250km/h so the nylon wings use the wind resistance to keep the front end down! They also stop the tank and clip ons from getting smashed to hell when crashing.

Check you don't strip the tank mount threads when you're removing and replacing the tank all the time.

Otherwise:

WHAT!!! a serious suggestion....:bash:

Good point though, I just drilled through the captive nuts with a 6.5MM drill and put some bolts through from the bottom. Use a nut on top to secure the bolts, then you have 2 little studs to mount the tank on with...

Here's another one. The grease they use in the steering head bearings on some FXR's is shite. It turns into yellow glue. Replace it with some good stuff.

Wynn's Ultra Supreme Grease is the best at doing that job

also try the bearings in the wheels
change them (they probably have never been looked at in all the bikes life)

check the chain get the right gearing for your bike

flip the gearleaver around if you can (race shift)

you probably wont have time for all this so just paint the bike and fit that new seat
also you have to find and change the tires (so there for the tire pressure needs checking)

:scooter: see you there next time

also CHECK the swing arm isn't in 5 bits :)

At the last meeting in F4 did you notice that 70's GP125 2-stroke and those old CB125T's in front of the majority of the FXR's.

The problem with puny 18hp FXR's is that when you hot them up they shit themselves and put a leg out of bed.

Us hot 2-smokers :scooter: are looking forward to racing the FXR lot at Taupo.

Make some spare foot rests. The originals are crap
Stiffen the front forks they are too soft
Braided line for the front brake.
Seal the rims and fit tubeless tyres. Nice set of Dungflops or Bridgestone supersofts.
Two lumps of sugar per tank of gas and she'll run real sweet.

Haha funni! Makes em run sweet. How about a can of Campbells V8 juice to give it the power of a V8 (thank you Honest Muz).

Theoretically lumps of sugar would count an an additive. Illegal if you were silly enough to try it.

Bring it on last year the fast 2 smokers went bang and my standard FXR ate most of the street stock 150 's they are 2 stroke i think LOL !

I'm still building a 2 stroke this deisel FXR is a bit of a lard arse it would be great to shed 30 + kg and have that nice smell of a real race bike .

Head bearings are a good one to grease foot peg brackets break so easy and the standard carb is a dog bin it . The wheel base are to long its worth making it shorter 30mm is about right and change the oil 2-3 meetings .

THERES HEAPS you could do if you wanted to.
1)solid rearset mounts and pegs.
2) dummy tank then a 5.0l real tank under it -or maybee a 2.0l if thats all you use in a long mt welly race
3)use studs and R clips to retain back of tank for quicker removal.
4) lighter exhaust system.
5)stiffen front end,get it working better
6) remove any electrical switches not needed to run the bike --including the ignition switch.
7) trim the wiring loom back again so only the wiring to run the bike is there. then figure out how to make that wiring crash proof.

heheheeeee... not really man, My hot stroker (melted a piston) My CBT (droped a valve into the sump) My FXR (broke a rod) which was a failer of the after market piston... they dont just blow up. All bucket engies have the same potentual to explode, IMHO the FIXER is one of the less likely.

Pete, did you make new connectors for the loom to race cdi?

The wires break around the cdi plug for some reason, i think they get tugged when u weight the seat left or right, and that will be why ur one cuts out on left hand bends. if you havent already then cut the loom down then u should - its great and you only have hmmm 4 or 5 wires left over which depends if u have a dash or not. Then if it still dont work use a voltage meter to make sure the wires left are not broken somewhere, if not then look up at ur off on switch and track the wires down to the switch and just cross them over so its on 'on' no matter what the switch is set to.

ha! you prolly tried all this already! ;)

anyhow with the loom cut down you will soon find the fault!

I only run the cdi the regulator and coil with no unnesasery lumb the cdi is in the cut down air box/electrical box and the regulator up out the back there are no wires under any thing.
I had used hot melt before the 2 hour to make a solid state plug it went well in the 2 hour apart from the standerd carb with a loose diafram 36minites in to it the bike crashed and never went again since then has had you piston kit fited and new carbs of werying oragin have setled with a vt 250 carb with a pod filter.
I changed exhaust from a drz125 pro curket becouse it ran down the side of the carb and may of been a problem and the tempory track marshal said it was to loud to a standard header with a tzr silencer up front and underneath
This was not ment to be a dig at you or you products thats bucket racing it works or it dosent normaly dosent becouse we are to focused on the wrong thing and dont wont to pay otheres to have a look

Here is something for the FXR boys.

YouTube pics of valve bounce in action.

Harmonic vibration of the valve spring.

How to set your cam timing when you become confused and how to straighten bent valves after trying too hard.
