Sad to say Mike, I missed ya! Took a ride out to kaiaua nd then back to Drury then to Clevedon and mareiti and finally back to twon, had to take the bro in Law for a skid as he'd just fited a new front tyre and it needed scrubbing in.Thats our story an we're sticking to it.
Fan bloody tastic day for a ride it was.

I heard a tale last night about 4 riders heading out for a ride last weekend? which ended up in three quarters of them dropping their bikes and a Ducati far too far ahead to even know where he was!

Any comments Stu, Stu and Johannes?

buellbabe
28th January 2011, 10:42
I was gonna post that a couple of Buells might be coming out to play with ya tomorrow but I have just been outside and the sky is looking grim...oh thats right right, there is a cyclone on its way LOL.

idleidolidyll
28th January 2011, 10:47
Sunday might clear a bit and Monday could even be perfect (overcast without rain)

is this ride fixed on Saturday or a bit smarter than that and a moving target depending on conditions?

buellbabe
28th January 2011, 10:51
Good point, just checked my weather radar and Sunday looks great!

idleidolidyll
28th January 2011, 10:55
Yeah, I looked too and both Sunday and Monday look excellent

yachtie10
28th January 2011, 10:57
Come and do the sunday ride
we will probably need the numbers (many are going away all weekend)

idleidolidyll
28th January 2011, 11:12
Come and do the sunday ride

actually, I may be mountainbiking in RotoVegas; haven't made up my mind yet
gotta rebuild the singlespeed today and do some work on the wifes so we can leave a pair of good bikes down there. that way we can ride the motobikes down and still go for a spin in the Redwoods

Your Sunday ride is a Northern one? Thanks but I'll pass on that. Northern rides are OK but traffic is high, cops are common and I'd have to spend too much time on motorways

If i'm here and ride Sun/Mon it'll definitely be south somewhere

have a good un; maybe some other weekend

DidJit
28th January 2011, 11:23
III, just come on the Northern Exposure Tour w/Din and I plus pillions (if Wilma lets us). Be a good opportunity to test the touring capabilities of Big Red... :D

idleidolidyll
28th January 2011, 11:33
no thanks J

not keen on riding in one of the worst storms of the year

besides; i already know how big red rides long distance; handles well but has a front seat built by committee out of spare bits of plywood

DidJit
28th January 2011, 13:03
Fair enough. It's the promise of Sunday & Monday's weather for me to be honest.

One of those fancy gel seats on the cards for Big Red then?

idleidolidyll
28th January 2011, 13:06
nah, i'm hardening up my arse muscles to suit what i've got

ajturbo

ajturbo

we now off up north to a BBQ ... sorry but women and mind changing....:lol:

idleidolidyll
2nd February 2011, 13:33
No motorbikes for me this coming weekend; er indoors has a booking for mountain bike training up at Riverhead and I'm going for support and thrills of my own.

idleidolidyll
4th February 2011, 11:06
Actually, if it's fine I might be keen Sunday.

That is unless I go to the Fat Bikers inaugural get together at KFC and MacDonalds in the city.

I'll have to have the salads of course: I've managed to burn off 10kg in the last few months and just one meal at either of those establishments would add half the weight back on!

But anyway, if anyone is riding Sunday, let me know and I'll make a choice.

DIN PELENDA

Like AJ said...he has only been up here for a very short time...

and when it comes to "getting you lot out more" ?

You are joking right? I ride to work most days and its not often that I'm not out on the bike at the weekend...but I tend to be riding north of Auck cos I got a lot of mates living north ... but that certainly doesn't mean I don't know a few backrds on the sth side :-) As AJ is finding out, we south-siders have got some fabulous roads right on our doorsteps with no need to travel the tedious motorway

And I am always eager to explore some more...hell yeah! Just don't take me onto gravel, hate that shit, 1 or 2 kms is ok but 4 or 5? Bugger that. Thats what puts me off taking the Ohautira Rd from Waingaro through to Te Uku and onto Raglan. Wish it was sealed all the way cos that would be such a nice loop to ride.

sigh...

Yeah just messin with ya's, I know BB your a demon like me ride to work every day, me poor buell is getting tired just waiting for it to go POP. promise no gravel if I can help it. I feel a full kawhia / waitomo loop may be in order shortly, need to set aside a full day though as its a biggy but that is one splendid piece of tarmac. Paeroa this Sunday is a go'er we usually go for a wee ticky tour early while the practice's are still on and arrive Paeroa mid morning if you two are up for it.

we never seem to end up on the same rides, one day....

ajturbo
16th February 2011, 20:51
my rear will NOT make Paeroa, let alone get back....

so i need a new tyre.. but then i cannot afford the trip there and back this weekend.. catch 22...

BB and i are used to long day rides..500k is normal...

buellbabe
17th February 2011, 08:53
S/XB...ha ha yeah I knew you were messing with me but I just couldn't resist taking the bait LOL.
Why do you think yr Buell is gonna go pop? Trust me, Buells are pretty hard to kill
he he he.
My X1 is 11 years old and has been lovingly thrashed her whole life, she is 'tired' but in no danger of kicking the bucket...she gets serviced every 4000kms... I'm anal about it.
I'm riding the CR at the mo while the X1 is having a rest...paint touch ups, general maintenance stuff. I love having the CR as a 2nd bike cos it only needs servicing every 10k or once a year, whichever comes first.

Anyways this is a bit off topic sorry!

Paeroa...love to but need to save some $$s. Normally I would be doing the Thames Valley Riders run the day before and I'm even giving that a miss...sob snif. Thats a REALLY good run. Had a blast on it last year... hell yeah.

Maybe catch ya tonight (Thursday) ?

DidJit
17th February 2011, 09:56

The old XB has seen to many thrashing's at hampton downs what with the ride days and superbike school etc, shes starting to get a bit rattly but thats ok keep fanging it till it blows and then rebuild it, parts are cheap from the US.

Oh to have the dosh to have another buell for a second bike, would be nice.

Went to the thursday nighter for a change, can't always get access to KB during the day so missed you message about tonight, it's hard for me to get there on time of late but i busted out of work at a reasonable hour tonight to make an appearance, was a nice little jaunt around the south.

Seems like theres a bunch of riders from North and West AKL gonna hit the BP Autobahn for breakfast at 9am.
Either ride with them (prolly down the main drag) or beat them to it at the eatery, and go round Dins suggested route via Fiji. Thems some of the options.

Hey mate, it's pretty quiet in the SARSAR of late. You may want to check out this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/136488-Learners-and-Newbie-Ride) ride if you want to get comfortable with a group first.

Also, check out the Group Ride Guide (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/107628-The-Group-Ride-Guide) if you haven't done so already.

Hopefully, there's some good weather coming up soon that will tempt all the riders with the promise of a beautiful day's ride.

$30.00 entry fee will not only cover the enrty fee for the speedshow, but it put the riders in the draw to win a set of Pirelli bike tyres and a set of GT Radial car tyres.
All the bikes go into the chance of winning a $300.00 credit note to spend at DPC.

Hey Din my friend, been a while since we rode mate. Looking forward to getting out on the coal burner sooner rather than later now. Complete machine on the table.Waiting for final electrical bits to come together and then to put the borrowed tank on and see if she'll fire up.Then it's wait for the painted bits to be finished and bolt em on.

LOL, sorry we didn't catch you there mate. We did ride as it turns out, changed the destination to Kopu and got there relatively dry despite the odds.Even managed to get home pretty much un wet too. Good ride, not great but we got a BFTP member signed up and STICKET awarded today as he missed his groups ride, we are guessing that they wuzzed out and left him no option than to ride with a bunch of broken down old bikes.
LOL, funny thing is he was riding an old Ducatti and we had a lot of fun.So next time the rides scheduled , at least by me, turn up, you never know what will happen.

Hey Mark, his name is buy a new bike cause he cant keep up with Didgy any more on the ol' Buell... but yeah i'm still out there, priorities have changed slightly and i'm engaging in one of my other hobbies a lot of late(building tube guitar amps and effects pedals). still ticking over just dont get to do the big long runs very much these days. will try and get along to one of the SATNR rides prior to the end of these extended daylight hours just real difficult to get away from work at a reasonable hour to make it in time. who knows may surprise ya in the coming weeks.

Never been on these rides...love to....Not for learner riders (been around on the saddle for a heck of lot longer) but how fast do you guys go, normally?

caseye
17th August 2012, 20:06
Well, in fairness, I'd have to say that this ride first needs someone to actually go on it. Of late things have been very quiet all around.
T^his thread/ride is an off shoot of the SATNR aka South Auckland Thursday Night Ride, we found many of us were no longer able to get to Thursday evening rides so ol Din dream'nt up this ride. It went OK for a while but has tapered off dramatically over winter.
All SATNR/SARSAR's are conducted with a lead rider and a TEC ( Tail End Charlie)so no one gets lost or left behind, it is strictly a "ride your own ride" situation, no one is encouraged to go faster than they are comfortable with, it's been very successful so far in respect of offs etc being very few and far between.
Keep an eye out here for any of the likely lad posting up an actual ride date.
Also start watching out for the SATNR ride to be reactivated in the not to distant future.
