How can a 600 be faster than a 1000?

That p3 gixxer has some very trick bits though, the whole bloody thing is carbon fiber :woohoo: And it has 6 pot brakes....weighs less than a gnats prick and has hyosung handling and power [oh, wait, no....]

The leaders of the WSS race at Sachenring were riding on pace with the midpack of the WSBK race. Infact I think their first lap (from a standing start) was faster than a few of the WSBK riders at full race pace.

Smaller bikes generally have better handling and more corner speed so they can maintain a higher average speed without relying on power alone to make them fast. There is a power difference in the region of 60hp between a WSS 600cc bike and their 1000/1198cc WSBK counterparts.

The Nurburgring has some long up hill straits that wasn't going to favour the 600. Everybody was surprised how well the 600 did.
