Hi

I've had real issues in NZ trying to find a semi ok suit for racing that isint really expensive, i've found a company in the states and i'm thinking about getting a suit from them, but would like some advice first. The suit i am looking at getting in from the states is:

Joe Rocket
GPX One Piece Suit
1.4mm Cowhide
Plastic body armor
Dual density spine pad
Full Flex™ windproof stretch panels in sleeves, legs and crotch
Beveled knee sliders
Molded shoulder vents
Low profile Nu-buck leather collar
Nu-buck leather cuff, with two stage adjuster
Curved sleeves and legs

(picture attached)

BUT i'd like to know if I could get anything near the same in NZ for a similar price... the price in NZ dollars including delivery is $797.92. Is this a good price or could i get something similar local?

Many thanks :niceone:

I bought a sample suit off these guys : http://www.m3apparel.co.nz off trademe.... Unfortunately it was too small but the quality looked good. It had all the same features as my Alpinestar that I finally ended up with less the ventilation panels.
It had the hard armour in shoulders, elbows and knees. Looked like the stitching was up to scratch but never really tried it on a ride. They are good to deal with though...

Thanks, do you think $797.92 is ok for that suit from the states?

I'm not overly famaliar with the Joe Rocket brand but I have seen it around. ~NZD$800 + 12.5% GST is not bad, in the shops (if they have any stock) you're looking between $1200 - $2000 :niceone:

I'd like some more feedback from others if possible.

I've had good dealings with a chap called Frans in Belgium selling Dainese suits, which have a fantastic reputation. Try www.dainese.be Another which I've also had some dealings with is a really nice guy called Mike at www.daineseclothing.com and a further shop that specialises in alpinestars is www.motostrano.com. I've found the europeans are much easier to deal with than the americans. The yanks aren't keen to export and real anal about credit card security. My advice is set up an email contact with who ever you are dealing with and then ring them. It's much faster to deal with people on the phone. With email it takes a whole day or more to have your quesions awnsered.

Sorry I don't know much about Joe Rocket. Check magazines such as superbike and performance bikes to see what brands the test riders are wearing. Their leathers get 'tested' regularly and the good brands stand up to it. But really the biggest factor is size. All the best.

I just found this at motostrano. Pretty good deal if they've got it in your size. Furter bit of advice is look look look, don't buy the first thing you see.

Kangaroo hide is more expensive but its a lot lighter and 4 times more resistant to abrasion than cow hide...

Plus one dead kangaroo is one less threat to our mototrcycling brethren in Australia.

You would want to make damn sure you werent going to get dinged for GST on the top of what you are paying. that takes it to $900. Is there import duty? if so that will be another whack.

I bought a one piece suit without trying it and it was hopeless. In fact it is hanging in my garage still.

What I did get was a custom spec suit from TonyB Minotaur brand. Ive even fallen off on it and it was mint.

It was fuck all more than what you are talking as well: $1200 or so? I cant remember. Worth every goddamn cent.
