The rattle gun is the go, maybe try lying it on its side and soaking some CRC in there overnight??

Try using an impact socket on the rattle gun.

Saying electric impact wrenches deliver more torque is like saying blue bikes go faster, simply not true.

It's not a left hand thread?, if not go & see your local tyre shop. The 3/4" drive wrenches the fleet guys use should deliver ~600ft/lbs.

The standard 1/4" hose fittings that most "home" compressors & hoses use will restrict the output of a pneumatic wrench signigicantly. A cheapo 1/2"dr wrench will give you around 200ft/lbs on a good day, max.

just spray it on where the thread area is idea is the shaft will shrink and it will work it way down the threads ans use heaps dont be shy

no way in hell will a battery rattle gun push more than an air wrench .. TOPS is 400 ft/lbs on those and thats only with a full battery..

i have a 1/2 DR Sumake gun that pushes 1000 ft/lbs on the tool truck...

might also try THIS (http://www.sulco.co.nz/Product?Action=View&Product_id=19520&Layout=Printer)

If all else fails mate - use heat. The quicker you can heat the nut without it transferring to shaft the better.
Seals are very cheap. You can also use a heat dissipating paste(silica clay) around the surrounding area to protect it all(Available from Strata Welding or Wurth) If u still stuck PM me or txt. Hows the health now -all good mate?

I have seen a bead of weld run around things to loosen them, but you will eff the sprocket obviously.
