My lawn mower has better suspension, and probably better styling also.
It's easy to go to isolated places on KLR's. Everybody leaves the countryside when they see the hideous beast coming:lol:

the reason they use it in the military is that you cannot trust a trigger monkey with a buell XB12X or BMW R1200GS, and the KLR is cheap.

had an 87 KLR, but sold it and got an old BMW R100RT because the BMW tourer is better off road and on

Bah, back in the 80s some yank fitted an IHI turbo to a R100GS motor. Power was well north of 120hp. The only other thing I can remember was the frame had to braced for the power hike.

I loved the 40 sec power wheelie & note that with all that sleek trick luggage system it didn't bottom out once. Those lites- my God those Lites- on the crash bars, could you believe it - WOW that guy's an ideas man!!
