If your a size 44 check out my BMW Savanna boots on Trade Me. Awesome boots but my right foot bigger than left and I need 45s. They are 100% waterproof

Guys , boots will leak in time .
I've got stylmartins , really good boots ,gave them the 'stand in a creek while drinking a beer waterproof test ' but they all have a membrane which breaks down over time and I'd be surprised if you get more than one seasons waterproofness out of any adv boot and after that just put the bread bags on over your socks.
If you are buying a new pair ...bad timing cause all they will do is keep your feet dry over summer ,buy going into winter and enjoy one dry footed winter for your money

The still dont leak but ive had enough of one boot being to tight and having to wear thin socks, otherwise they wouldnt be for sale. BMW savannas and Oxtar Infinities are almost identical and its rumoured theyre made in the same factory.

Slight topic chage, but what the hell.

my dririder road boots crapped out the other week as expected, so i am now using my fox mx boots which give no feel at all and the top gets caught under my tank grrrrrrr. Anyway what i want to know is, is there a boot that is a good mix of the 2 e.g. good feel on brake and gear lever and offer good protection, oh and are able to be walked in.

Cheers

I think mine are Sidi Canyons. They're 4 years old, have done heaps of wet Kms including 3 very wet grand Challenges and have never leaked a bit......yet!!

My boots leak heaps. It's never really bothered me. Wear wooly socks and your feet are warm. For me it just goes with the territory. Ride through rivers, you get wet. Big deal.

In saying that, I need some more boots. Mine are stuffed.

I'm eyeing these (http://www.mrmotorcycles.co.nz/product_info.php?cPath=60_72&products_id=1080) up at the moment, less MX more practical

That looks like fun

StylMartins keep my feet warm and dry :Punk: Blinged them out with possum fur inner soles :wari:. As the are a road orientated boot they give good feel and are easy to walk in.
Any boot with stitching will leak after a bit of wearing, stitching is after all a series of holes filled with string . Snow Seal or Dubbin :Punk:
Excepts when your lying on ya side in the river, even bread bags aint gonna save ya from that one :shit::done:

I reckon my Stylmartin Active Trail are a good compromise in this regard. The waterproofing is shot now though.

To give some info on the original Q, me mate Toddy has done a bunch of miles in his Sidi Discos & he reckoned they were still waterproof.

I think Goretex like in the Sidis is the way to go, my tramping boots have a goretex liner, they are almost 10 yrs old & have done heaps of miles but are still pretty waterproof. Only problem is the $$$.

I have Forma ATV one's. Like an MX boot but flexible. Good feel, nice and high.
Waterproofing ok.

Diadora Mud's are available very cheap ($200 and something instead of $400) at the motomail outlet store at the moment. Nice boot too.

I have a pair of Sidi's, not sure of the name though. They have an enduro sole, a ski fastener over the foot to secure the boot & a big velcro flap up the side. They are gortex lined. 2 years of bone dry use, even on 500km monsoon trips & hardly worn at all. Recommended!

I've been wearing forma GT's for the last few (5?) years and they've been great. Only just letting in the damp now but they are almost worn out. I would buy another pair. More road than mx but a good mix for adv riding.
This is the latest version.

Oxtar infinitys, brilliant, dry and comfy from day 1, that was 2 years and near 50K km of mixed riding. Some of which was very wet! Called TXC or something now I think.

Those Sidi's are nice looking boots. I had some Sidi jobs years ago, and they were great.

Only problem I see is the seam running horizontally across the inside leg. I'll never buy another pair of boots without a single panel inside leg. With my current Gearne boots, this seam is now totally ripped. I often have to wrap duct tape right around the boot now. The boot catching on the footpeg has caused me to drop my bike more than once. :shit:

If the Sidi Combats I recently bought are any indication of materials and construction throughout their range of boots, these would be fantastic.

Bought those Fly Stinger boots last week ......but trouble getting used to the lack of "feel" and inability to shift gears.:argh: Will definitely have to adjust the gear lever up somewhat.

Just picked up a pair of Sidi Canyons.

Needed a pair of boots that did everything. Tried a few different boots on and took on advice on here and figured the Sidi's would do the trick for me, not an easy decision tho.

Already got MX boots if I do a strictly off road ride.

Looking forward to getting em all dirty on Saturday :woohoo:

I brought these boots because they are a little on the supple side.I was using my Alpine Stars Tech 8 MX boots and they were to stiff and difficult to walk in.

I am very hapyy with the level of protection the Sidi`s offer

I was hoping for waterproof to MEAN waterproof. My BMW boots have been and BMW advertise them as being permanently waterproof. I priced the Sidis and TCX infinities today. Sidis $595 TCX Infinities $695 Ouch. I havent priced BMWs latest version yet

I have looked at many TCX products. They seem to be deliberately over-pricing their products to try and give the TCX brand some form of high status.
Comparable quality cheaper brands are approx half the price.
The TCX Infinities are very lightly made and offer very little protection...and in my opinion are a "lesser" boot than the Forma GT (@ $300ish)

The Sidis are Rolls Royce, in comparison !

I've just been down to try a pair on. Looked and felt like a fine boot for $229, with just enough lateral ankle support. But the biggest size they have is a 43 and it was just a bit snug in the toe box for me. They've got about 10 pairs left, and only 1 of pair of size 43.
