I recently bought a 50cc scooter, so I had the opportunity to buy some armoured jackets for mrs. laowei and I.

My jacket came from 1tonne, it was very reasonably priced, good quality, came with CE approved armour, and actually fit me quite well.

My wife's jacket came from a trader called skycitynz2009, who sells a few armoured jackets and pants for skiing and motorbikes. Although it was advertised to come with the CE approved armour, we were both gutted when it arrived without the armour (guess it'll be a few more weeks before she can use the scooter, unless she decides to steal the armour out of my jacket). It also appears I'm not the first person to get a product without the advertised CE armour......

So should I send it back for a refund, or try and track down some armour? How much should it cost for shoulders/elbows and back armour? Where could I get some? I'm open to opinions.

I called the trader, and he was pissed, saying that I paid way less than RRP, but who really cares what I paid...... Had to argue for 20 mins to get him to agree to pay for all the postage if I send it back.

Anyways, 1tonne, you rule, skycitynz2009, you blow dead goats.

Send it back. Get something with armour designed to work with it.

And give the person some negative reputation for false advertising.

The biggest problem is it putting your new adventure on hold.. not very amusing for your wife, who will have been looking forward to it.

Yip - diffo send it back but in saying that make sure you get your money before sending. If he's gonna be an asshole about the armour he'll be an asshole giving you your money back.

Had this exact same issue with a stroller we brought. It was advertised as new and unwanted because they already had one. Only a "brochure" piccy of it because it was "new". We paid a friggin fortune for it but only slightly cheaper than we would from a shop. Picked it up at night as we were only passing through and the next morning noticed it was scratched.

Lying bastards and we can't do shit about it because they were an individual not a business. No response to calls, emails, txts. :angry2:

Learnt a few lessons but make sure you cover yourself before giving it back. Don't let pricks like that make money. Spend it with someone decent.

When u send it back make sure you require a signature. I got burned when I sent something back and the guy claimed to have never received it... lying wanker. The courier swears he delivered it according to the electronic report via track n trace, but without a signature to prove someone at his office had received it, I didn't have a leg to stand on :2guns:

Why didn't you get both jackets from 1Tonne?

The only reason we didn't get both from 1Tonne is cause we stumbled onto the other jacket first and bought it. Our budget is pretty tight since we're both in school, so we'd rather wait and find something that she likes and will do the job and is under the $130 range, which doesn't seem like much, but that's how it is for now.

Trademe battles never end well...

There's not much you can do if one party decides to be complete tool about it. :angry2:

Leaves a sour-taste-in-ur-mouth when you get ripped off by sellers in Trademe. Next time -> check their feedback & take it from there. Theres always going to be an individual to replace another scumbag thats been kicked off trademe or even better - Trademe taking them to COURT- thats damn good justice...trademe team rock :Punk:
Send a report to the Trademe team! They are there to help you and they follow up ALL complaints with shifty unreasonable -take your money sellers.

Don't lump every trader on trademe in the same category...

You have the el cheapos who just shift for minimal dollar, don't care, you get what you pay for.

Both 1tonne and quasimoto sell on trademe, but believe in their products and are also here on KB (and there are probably others)...

Ive purchased 2 leather jackets off Trademe sellers. One was a new ladies HD (actually was cheaper to buy from her, than getting straight from bike/shop dealer- a saving of $300)
The 2nd one-just got today - M2R cherish- diff seller on trademe- BOTH trades were smooth & hassle free.
