I have been busy cutting and machining some alluminium blocks for the risers to fit some MX bars to my ZXR. In the pic you can see the dimensions and where i kind of want the bar to be placed. The bar is standard 7/8th inch and needs to be atleast 3cm raised. Can someone give me a hand deciding where to positon the fastening bolts?

Keep in mind they may need to be countersunk, and tapping is not a problem (i am going to be bolting them into the top of the tripple clamp)

Man, I got to try this too. I'll keep an eye on this thread

Is the top tripleclamp flat on top or will a mounting pad need to be machined? How will the mods affect getting a WOF? Is the riser going to be secured to the tripleclamp by the same bolt/s that secure the handlebar?

See my PM as well(NOT Helen, eh)

You lookin at mounting the bar where the circle is?,no good, you need a bolt either side of the bar to keep it tight enough....

15 minutes & arrived at something like this. 100mm top-bottom, 50mm front-back, 20mm side-side. Currently 8mm bolt holes pass right through but could easily be tapped top and bottom. Obviously it would need to be parted through hole for handle bar.

was thinking about having a mounting hole under the bar but didnt think the clamp would be tight enough.

Mounting it to the top of the tripple clamps which is just flat allumium slab.

That design that speedpro (got ur PM) did is what i want, i think i'd use the same 8mm bolts to go right through the riser and screw/bolt into the actual tripple clamps. if you get where i'm coming from.

I'll go out later and take somes.

how bout if i had one end as bar clamp only, and the other as a fixture into the tripple clamp and as a bar clamp. see the pic attached...

the one on left is purely as a clamping bolt, the other holds the whole setup on the tripple clamps.

Would this work or do u think that the handle bar alone is not enough to hold the setup rigid? (remembering that there are two identical risers)

not sure about the WOF thing. I wouldnt believe it makes a difference... might have to check, im'm keep thing the road racing bars anyway so every 6mths i can change it back for the wof then change back when im done.. they'll never know

New drawing. Recesses are for standard 8mm cap screw heads. Bolts are 31mm centre-centre. These could be made longer than needed and then cut to the desired length, and not with a hacksaw in the vice.

I could price these up if anyone is really interested.

No,you'd need both bolts to hold it too the clamp.one will bend and break. Is it an option to bolt it to the triple clamp from underneath?

yeh, after talking to speedprob im gonna bolt it from below, through the tripple clamps. I spaced it up and it all fits so it should be sweet. Just gotta get it drilled, cut and tapped now. Oh and pick up the MX bars.

Fully looking forward to some street fighter action :Punk:

we'll see what the old man says, he wants me to turn it back to original :whocares: Its my bike, my money, my design
