Thanx mate.. interesting reading sort of a grey area ..im not likely to win anything on a very overweight bike with a very overweight rider anytime soon >>>Lol:lol:shit the xr 100 engine alone feels like it weighs about the same as my yz 426 with an engine in it :lol:just dont wanna build something that is not gonna be legal..It would actually be a xr100 motor in a xl 185 frame

Like others have said, dont think it'll set the world on fire. I run around on a DRZ125, and its easy, cheap fun on that bike. My bro also uses a KLX(same model as the DRZ), and its just to get out on the track and have a bit of fun.

unless you are winning then who is going to pay the money to make a protest ?????
and I cant see you winning on that :oi-grr:
but then you never know
if you find that you cant use it pull the engine out and put another one in
there is nothing wrong with the frame

OK, if you are serious about this bit, then find another engine. The XR100 would be considered a competition engine and by the rules is technically illegal. Sure its probably no faster than an XL100, and maybe you won't be competitive on it, but what happens when you upgrade and get that FXR or CBR150, and decide to sell your XR to another newcomer? Its not worth the hassle, by all means if your local club is happy for it to run, then fine, but by the rules, it wont be a legal bike. If that means anything to you, then you'll do the right thing. I posted (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=1129406075#post1129406075) in that thread about it not being that hard to build a legal race bike, and alot seemed to agree. Don't mean to be a killjoy but just try and look at the bigger picture and help keep the rules clear.
Heres an engine for ya!

Jeez Gav , You practicing to be the new Steve Langley?
Yea down here it would clean up the F5 , but in welly it would be an also ran.
There are buckets down here that dont fit all the rules but run at the back so nobody cares.
I say let him run it til he gets a FXR then same for the next guy

Where are you planning to run this? Might pay to give the local organiser a call and ask them if it will be allowed to run at the venue you're aiming at.

Good and easy way to get someone hooked on buckets by letting them run around on something like an xr100 or drz125 etc to see if its worth it/or want to get bike to properly fit the class. Im still undecided after after all this time...

ill join your crew Shorty !!! im still undecided if buckets are for me. lol yea i thought about doing the same thing but with my CR125 and a loncin engine would be a great fun toy. just build it and see what happens if people get all emo :girlfight: about it just shell out for a new engine. simple

True. Always been a kids trail bike not a race bike. A CRF150 would be a different story.

No ones going to tell you to go home if you turn up at mt wellington with it...... you'll have to run f5 with it, even then you will have trouble being compeditive, avalon does well on her xl100 but shes a top rider.
B-grade at mt wellington consist of very fast buckets, moded fxr's,moded cbr's,fast 2t's ect, Come to practice on the 14th i think of movember and test the bike out then you'll have a good idea of what its like.

the worst you will do is 5th place
maby 9th if everyone including me joins in
you will be able to run it in f4 A or B grade
and if you cant beat DD or Karl or Tim etc you wont need to worry about it being a non compeditive compeditive engine :lol::dodge:

Incidently --waay back then (early80's) the hot mod was to fit the front end from a suzuki GP100/125 or a GT185. But then back then we diddnt even have to fit plastic blocks under our pegs.

You could supercharge a CB/SL/XL 100 and run it in F4..........bet it would be quicker than a FXR150...;)

If you need a manual for one of these you shouldn't have taken it apart in the first place. Just line all the marks up, slip the chain and sprockets on and tighten everything up. Same with the points etc.

2 cents. I used to ride a fast and annoying vespa in with the buckets here in Wellington. It was a 190 and a fu#king scooter, but still was tolerated until I saw the light and got a bucket. I might not be racing if I was told to piss off.
If it was an RS125 then there is a problem.
Ride it have fun.

probably too late for yours, but with a bit of Googling you can generally find most manuals.
Try thumpertalk
has yours got the points on the end of the cam or behind the flywheel?
I have an XR 100 for sale on tm so I've done a bit of fiddling.
