I've never paid any more than $350 for a helmet in the past so today I went out and spent nearly twice that much on a new Shoei Raid II, also shelling out for an additional tinted visor. I was seriously looking at the Z-One graphics range (AMPS had the best prices in the world but sold out mighty quick) but there were none my size available and the replica graphics were too extreme for me anyway, eg. skull & crossbones and scaring killer creatures with big sharp teeth lunging out at you - this is the fashion of this world! I was in the market for a more 'conservative' graphic and I found one that fit me just right in the Obelisk design (see attachments).

At 1400g the helmet feels heaps lighter on my head, it's a great feeling. I was surprised how much difference 100 grams makes in comparison to my HJC CL-14 1500g lid. The ventilation system is a great improvement too because I can actually tell the difference & feel the wind when the chin and forehead vents are opened! :cold:

Mr RIB, now that I have this new helmet I can no longer be mistaken for the RiderInBlack because the truth is - "there can be only one!" :msn-wink:

holy cow.. expensive lid, but then again, I guess it's your nuggin that's in it, so it's the price of a skull and what's innit

nice tho too. Gotta see some bugs on that visor!

Haven't forked out more than $160. Get the out-dated helmets that the dealer wants to get rid of :niceone:

Nice hat

My last hat was a BMW which I always felt was noisy so when I bought this bike I was after something quieter and bought a Shoei. When I picked it up from the shop I asked the parts guy to keep the box, unfortunately that meant I also left the instruction book behind. There's probably still a coupla details eluding me... Very happy with the Shoei though.

Wicked graphics. Its a brick compared to my XR1000, 1350g :)Specs listing said 1350g (-/+50g) but the sticker on the outside of the lid said 1400g.

...and the graphics aren't wicked! :innocent:

Zed, Zed, Zed. Why didn't you say you were looking at Raid 2's?

Zed, Zed, Zed. Why didn't you say you were looking at Raid 2's?I wasn't looking at first. I phoned that wholesaler like you suggested and they referred me to Haldanes. I went to Haldanes who had the Z-One helmets for $699 as opposed to yours at $499. They could hardly believe you guys were selling them for that much? To cut a long story short I ended up at Red Baron who gave me a 10% discount off their floor pricing. I am a happy camper!

I had thought about coming back to you *again* but decided not to. Thanks again for your help anyway Lou...maybe we should have asked that staff member of yours to return that last XL Shoei he grabbed! :msn-wink:
