I have attached the flyer about the DAMN THE LEVIES Protest Ride here.
Some housekeeping.
All motorcyclists are welcome
You are responsible for yourself, your bike and your ability to go the distance
No patches or bad attitudes please - This affects ALL motorcyclists, so we would like to show a diverse and united front
No idiots please - Being an idiot on a bike can have far reaching bad press against the reason for this ride, and could potentially overshadow it
We do encourage all motorcyclists to be visible and wearing the correct gear for the ride
We WILL be leaving each point at the stated time, so please be ready
We will be obeying all road rules
Please be couteous to other road users
If you want to know anything please go to www.bronz.org.nz

Wow - that's an early departure from Whangarei! I guess that's because of potential traffic snarl-ups trying to get through Auckland?
Which makes me think - people coming to the meeting place from areas north will need to allow lots of time to get through the traffic! The group will not be hanging around waiting for stragglers!

Although straggles should have no trouble catching up.

Probably dont need to leave that early, but your traffic could be an issue. We are in Warkworth and have some beds if people want to leave from here at a more reasonable hour :D

Hi everybody that is planning on meeting in sanson there is only a shell garage there now the caltex has closed there is a streetwise coffee cart across the road for those of you that need a 6 shot of coffee like me in the morning

Most riders will actually stay in Palmy overnight, and presumably coffee up before leaving. Meet point was chosen as Sanson to get back on SH1, and avoid riders from (eg) Wanganui having to come into PN and then backtrack

Remember to have the radio stations up there alert the morning rush hour of increased motorcycle traffic, might get some sympathy from the cagers'''or im drunk, maybe thats it...LOL

This is sounding good I am looking forward to it. Not sure if leaving Napier or Palmerston just at the moment and looking forward to meeting people I would never get to meet. Vern

We wont really affect the rush hour. Our leaving point is south of the city, past peak hour. The challenge will be getting through the friggen traffic to get to the leaving point. I like your thinking though  Wonder if we can get focus on "The Start of the Bikeoi" in the media.

Likewise I may join up at Autobahn, but plan to push on to Wellington Monday evening. I'll stay the night at my cousin's place then join up at the Wellington starting point on Tuesday.
If I can ride Auckland to Wellington, cross to Picton and then carry on riding to Christchurch all in one day then I can't see why Auckland to Wellington would be a problem on the Monday.

I emailed both Breakfast and Good morning asking if they plan to cover this pre event, no reply from them as yet .... maybe they (and other media) need to be unindated with emails asking the same thing for them to sit up and cover this event.
I also emailed BP and asked them if they would consider subsidised prices for fuel for the participants in the event ..... worth a shot LOL and might save us a couple dollars.
as in my earlier post and I have emailed Bronz, bikersagainstacc and ulysses that the Feilding motor camp is offering accomodation for the 16th and maybe the 17th if needed for $20 a head sharing the cabins etc.
Compliments to the companies that have offered discounts for us and their support.

I'll be catching you all up at Palmy - can't really afford to take 3 days off so me and a mate will be riding the first leg straight from work Monday evening.
When I called the lady at Gateway motel in Palmy I thought I might have left it too late, but she said only about 20 takers so far... Hopefully there's a whole bunch leaving it to the last minute?

You can lead a horse mate is all...I really hope that she gets a full house. She is the most amazing supporter of what we are doing.

A BIG thanks to all the organisers of the BIKEOI to Wellington. It has been a great experience and the presentation at Parliament steps was really worthwhile. Great selection of speakers ... great to see Nick and his mates squirm.
Thanks to the representatives from BRONZ and others who met with the minster. Cheers guys, great effort, great ride, good to be there in numbers. Keep up the pressure.
