Those that got some Intiminators should have received an e-mail saying that if they put up a review they can get 50% off Vibranators until the 27th Nov.
I've ordered 2 pair

Yes bart inimatemunters are very good in my experience, the front stays much more planted and I don't think i have bottomed the front out since being fitted, and i had extra springs in before. The only thing I don't like is when the front wheel hits the ground after being up or when landing there is an initial shock through the bars that wasn't there before.

But holy shitcakes Batman, that's a lot of coin. $430+ from the website I was looking at.
Surely if you rock up to a wreckers with that kind of coin, you could walk away with a couple of shocks. Admittedly, most wrecked bikes are wrecked from the front backwards, but that seems like a lot for a couple of valve things.
Maybe I will butcher the DRZ. Wonder if anyone would notice if I switched the front ends over and dropped the price by five hundy.......no, I'm not quite that devious. :msn-wink:

Mine only cost $usd150 plus freight so were not too bad. $264 in total iirc. They were half price if you typed in klr650.net but arent sure if there is a dr version.
There are a few klrs running round with drz front ends, in fact I am pretty sure there is a kit you can get to do it somewhere, and if you think your forks are bad try riding a standard klr one day.

If you can get a complete DRZ front end (wheel/triples/forks) then it'll bolt up no problem apart from having to use the tiny DRZ brake rotor.
If I was doing it over I'd still get the Intiminators.

Anyway even though I don't really suffer from hand vibration a lot, probarbly cos I don't do a lot of road miles I have ordered some vibrating minties cos I plan on doing more road miles. we've been doing quite a bit of research into vibration reduction (on the assumption that my sons recently acquired and as yet unridden 250sx (dinger) will vibrate worse than the kdx.
Ricor now make bar end weights to work with the vibranators (we have a set on the way - complements of ricor)
We are also going to try filling the bars with lead shot - apparently that makes a big difference on some bikes and we have also got hold of a set of ktm hard parts PHDS vibration damping handle bar mounts.
Going to be a fair bit of experimenting going on.....

you can tell you've been riding a hi-po 2 stroke if your hands are numb
you can tell you've been riding an lc4 if you don't have any more fillings left in your teeth.

every time I attack something bumpy with a bit of pace I seem to smash something underneath - foot pegs, bash plate, centre stand, crash bars...
At least I'm progressing higher up the bike - sheared the rear rack mounting bolts after hitting a few bumps and got hit in the back by my top box and rack....
the intiminators have improved the fork action dramatically and hopefully the ricor rear shock will fix the back.
Don't get me wrong - I love the bike - but it is primarily a fun all road tourer that can pootle through most mild trails.

Yeah, some of the bolts do appear to be made out of butter and a must replace chore. And the number plates are so thin now. I was lucky to find it on the way back one day..., complete with rego still attached.
Off with that silly tongue or second back mud guard and plate now directly on the real mud guard. But then noticed that the tail light will need replacing because no white light shining down on the plate. So it begins...:)

Got a $200 fine for 'not display WOF' and $200 for 'not display rego', courtesy of the parking wardens who didn't look very hard - you could see them while standing beside the bike, it's got 300mm clearance there! Wrote a letter saying they didn't see them, included a photocopy of them, and the fines were waived. It's quite common with bikes I understand, so (here) they are sympathetic if you bother to write. Have since moved them to the side of the mudguard, although they can be seen more easily they still get covered in crap.

Hey Padmei!
Seems like it's not unpossible for you to have got the wrong size.
Well I contacted Ricor today and they just told me to bring my bike down to the shop. When I got down there I explained what I did and how I installed the valves they decided just to take my forks apart on the spot! ( I did everyting correct by the way)
What we found was that for some odd reason I got a set of valves for a 41mm fork and not ones for the Wee. They installed a new set for me on the spot and were very gracious etc... The difference between the stock fork and the one with the valves is night and day different! The bike has much less dive under braking. I can hardly wait to go on a trip!

Question, how much difference does oil level make to fork feel/handling?Affects mid-stroke to full compression (ie bottoming) the most. The trapped volume of air acts as a progressive spring. My DR-Z250 and the Trophy both benefited from increased oil height (the latter also had uprated Ohlins springs).
Many tuners suggest starting at the recommended height, then going up by 5mL per side until you are happy with it. Just add it via a measuring syringe through the fork caps, and go for another test ride. If you go too far and the mid-stroke becomes harsh, reverse the process with a length of hose on the syringe.
Padmei, it would be good to have Woodman's beastie back-to-back. And he'd make a good test pilot, being most familiar with the bike and having experienced the difference directly.

Although they have made a noticeable difference to my beasty, they haven't turned what is an inadequate front end into a super dooper flash handling thingy.I still find the limits regularly, but unless I retro fit some drz or kxf forks on ........ where do you stop and like you said on Saturday night, what would we get to replace our klrs?

Installed them!
They've changed the freq of the vibes but they're still very much there.
I have to bend my hand guards to get the to bolt up and I think it's slightly twisting the bolt inside the bars and the Vibranator is touching the bars and defeating the porpoise.
It'll be a mission getting them off though...

What Nordie says they helped with the firmness and the suppleness. The only thing I do not like about them is that it feels very harsh when the front wheel comes down hard, but the upside is they are less likely to bottom out.

for the cost they make a very worthwhile improvement.

Went for a short hoon around the streets and down the motorway and actually do seem pretty smooth now, although it was ok prior. Dunno why I got them really. Time will tell.
mmmm heineken.

I was wondering if they would make a difference on a bigger single with steel bars - I might get a set to try on the klr.
surely less vibration = less fatigue = longer ride days?

Thing is most of my days out, even though I may be out for a long time don't actually seem to cover many miles. The db1k in a few weeks should be a good test of them and me and the bike.

bet then you'll happily pay $$$ to extend your riding day another half hour or so :zzzz:
actually - when I think about it - a lot of the farkles I install are a form of motorcycle viagra
the more comfortable and easy to ride my bike is - the longer I want to be on it.

Now until December 24th, we're marking down INTIMINATORS by 20% for all those having a tough time finding a holiday gift for a rider who loves the road. Just type the word "holidays" in to the Coupon Code field.
Anyone else on the fence wanting Intiminators?, bulk order for a few lads and ship a few sets to NZ save on shipping and get 20% off?
Lemme know as I would be keen, Cheers Andi

Flick Ricor a note asking when the 50% off on DR minties is happening...you never know. Not so long ago the KLR's were 50%. BTW - the shipping is expensive because the packaging (box) ships with alot of air - they didn't want to bend that whacking great big sticker. Could ship here for cheaper if you have a mate in the US who could pack down to a mailer size.

The 50% off deal was a long time ago.
Way before the KLR deal.
They only do the 50% off bit until a shop picks up the line.
Kientech do them for $210us + postage.

$299us - 20% = $240us.
Looks like it's actually cheaper from Kientech now with the good dollar than when I got mine from Ricor back in April at 50% off.

The intiminators got a work out on the dusty and in my opinion they are fcukin awesome.
There were a lot of corrugations coming into corners and the front just handled them so well that in the end I was looking for the corrugations and front braking hard and not once did the front pack down or do any of the weird shit it used to do. It just stayed so planted it was incredible really. Kept me out of the bushes on the sides of the roads, not discounting rider error.
The vibranators seemed to work too i.e. no numb hands which I was expecting after that many ks.
Underground had just installed inaminute eggtimers in his Africa and he was equally amazed.
Best farkle ever.

you do come up with some goodies.
Discussing bikes and riding with MrsJatz on the way home and we both think a couple of DR350's would be the go for our kind of riding, put the Big and Ten in a rest home, and only bring them out on special occasions. The boy rode the tenere on the Maruia saddle on the way home and his opinion is you don't need that much power, he's happy on his 250 and handles it nicely.

Cheaper than a DR-Z 400 for a start, not as high maintenance (?) and less bits to break. If they were good enough for the Mondo Enduro boys then they be good enough for us

Nothing a bit of foam and a sheepy wouldn't fix :D.
The discussion came about after watching the boy grow in confidence BTW.
We (me and MrsJatz) both started our ADV riding on 650's (F650's) and I just went up from there, with no previous trail bike experience I think I/we need to start again with something smaller to get the basics right on

start, stop , fall over - in whatever order - how could you get more basic than that.
Be interesting to see if after a year or so you'll want to get back on a big bike. It is funny how many people, like myself, start on a 650.
As a matter of interest why did you buy the F650's? When I started getting interested in adv riding it was after watching Ewan & Charlie. I immediately thought BMWs were the proper bike to buy. I even thought a 650 was small!!

MrsJatz had always liked the F650's so I bought her one, she hadn't really ridden a bike in 20 odd years, after I rode it I thought "hey thats not bad" so I did got one m'self, did my first D.B. then got my licence so I could do things proper :D.
Didn't even know about Long way round at that stage.
The Big and Ten will still be in the garage so we have something big to get on later

I've got a spare pair of these Vibranators (http://www.vibranator.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=08%2D000%2D500%2D1% 2D002&CartID=1). I ordered them for my Zeta bars, plus a set for use with BarkBusters when I get around to fitting some. But I found that the bolt in Zeta bar end caps fitted the BB type, so my Renthal/Protaper fit pair is spare.
Let me know if you're interested.

I agree, and I've owned the whole stable of DR's (except the big.....must get one one day)
The DR350 I had was a shitter (but that may have been that particular bike). DRZ400 was way more capable, close ratio gearbox was the only downfall. DR650 feels somewhere in between, with a bit more weight, and a shitload more torque. Beterer for the riding I'm doing now. Seat ain't much softer than the 400, just wider. You get a sore arse at about 350km instead of 320km.
Oh, and the DR200 I used to ride in the '80's was probably the best of all, but I was only little then, and any bike made you do this.:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::wooh oo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
