Nope.
Gov say "Increases won't be as high , probably, maybe. Nothing definate, no dollars mentioned. "Not as high" could be just $50 knocked off.
And you can bet your bottom dollar that whatever they grudgingly remit this year, they'll be back for next year.
Wellsford is Bridge House. Not very big, and tends to be full of locals. I'm OK with it though , hopefully Maha or Mom can give an opinion on if it can handle say 50 bikers?
(If we don't get 50 turn up to the planning session we'll be struggling to get 100 for the event - we really need numbers on the 30th)
Won't be as high will be more than a $50 drop..I reckon it will be closer to $450-500 which aint so bad..for 601cc plus

$450 - 500 fucking SUCKS. it should be no more than any other private passenger vehicle pays. Jesus wept but you roll over easy. Once you accept any difference, you accept that we are a valid target for any increase they might like to add later. And they will.

I know the world is against us eh.....like I have said before try and get a better private deal $ for $ and you won't beat ACC at $500...by a long way.
We will always be a target being a minority group....I mean why do we wear protective gear beyond the legal helmet law but to avoid serious injury....if what we do is not a higher risk...regardless of "No Blame"...

Is as low as it is due to the cross-subsidisong and the more it does the cheaper leavys could be. The way ACC was set up to operate. ACC needs to re-combine the accounts into the one super account before ACC can operate at 100% efficency again. It wasn't designed to have the seperate accounts.
And that is why we must get ACC to go back to its roots and why private insurance can not compete.
However as I have always said there are better collection methods for those levys than the present system. and the levy's don't need to be as high. We know ACC is making a profit and has enough to cover all claims... and still bank 1 billion...

You seem to be forgetting that in NZ we operate under a completely different injury compensation system from anywhere else. Yes, compared to the UK or even Australia, $500 may be a good deal, as in other countries you can sue where the other party is at fault. That is the fundamental difference.
In NZ we entered into an agreement with the government to give up the right to sue in return for a no-fault compensation scheme that was broadly funded and equalised costs across the community.
I presume by now you have read the comments by the architect of the scheme, Sir Owen Woodhouse:

Dont forget that in the UK if you are "at fault" you give up the right to sue...which is essentially "claiming"...ACC as it is now is still a better option.
Here is an example...with ACC they will pay 80% of your salary for your working life..in the UK, say you are 25...you have another 40 years to work but you get a lump sum based on multiples i.e 25 years worth of future salary.....if you are not at fault..with ACC you get paid 80% for 40 years....

Ixion, just a couple of quick thoughts:
I think it's safe to release the details of a protest in terms of "Nick will be here", "we are looking for a turnout >100 bikers", etc. I think what you are probably trying to keep secret is the content of your questions so that Mr Smith cannot develop pre-tested answers. That is to say you would like to keep him of guard. The reality is that if 100 bikers turn up, very few will likely get to speak. To me, that means that very few need to know the specifics of the questions that will be asked. The rest of us just need to know the date/time and the general feel of the questions (so we know that we agree with you approach). In that respect those things would seem to me to be quite safe to be made public.

If the benefit of ACC remains but in private hands whats the problem
ACC already have lawyers out and about so they don't have to make payouts... in private hands where the company is bent on profit only it will be worse... you will have less cover
You know what I mean..even a 1970 Holden is safer than a bike
Why is I always feel safer on my bike than in any car or other vehicle? maybe cause I know if there is an accident I ain't going to get trapped inside it.. i don't know... I just feel safer on the bike...
could be a only a point of prospective...

Fair enough....I agree with your last point though....
One point...if ACC made $1 billion surplus why would private insurance be tighter?
NighthawkNZ

One point...if ACC made $1 billion surplus why would private insurance be tighter?
the 1 billion was ACC as a whole... they would sell the seperate accounts err seperately
all of a sudden the 1 billion dollars split per account is not much comparitively since the traffic account is probably the smallest and the one that is struggling to make money... does it get any if it is sold
so the new owner has to make huge cut backs on payout and services, and huge levy increases to make a profit
Hence why I have said the seperate accounts must be rejoined to the super account where the cross subsidising works as it was designed to work... the day the accounts were seperated was the day ACC started to truly fall apart.

Fair enough....I agree with your last point though....
One point...if ACC made $1 billion surplus why would private insurance be tighter? The main part answer to that is Fully Funded Vs Funded for yearly expenses. Up until now ACC only got enough funds to pay for each year's expenses plus a slight buffer. Private Insurance uses a Fully Funded Model and try to take in each year, enough funds to cover the total cost for each claim for the life of the claim plus a much larger buffer. The Government is trying to push ACC into the Fully Funded type system like Insurance use. This type of system requires at lot larger buffer to run than ACC's present system. To do this they are pumping up the levies. The system doesn't need to be changed as it has been more than covering the expenses. Hope that answer your question.

Not a fraction more, not a micrometer less!
Anyways, if this ACC tax levy whatever they're gonna use it for comes in, then i will officially be TAXED off the road and ACC will have lost $252, (sorry add on 500 for the new Levy) lost a possible $752 from me personally. Who the hell does that benefit, it's a lose lose situation! Although the government then has a reason to raise the car tax levy the following year/month/week/day!!!!
There'll be no stopping it, it's a slippery slope designed to make the rich richer and the poor poorer or dead because they can't afford ACC! If you're happy to live with that on your conscience, i'll remember that as your limp body slips from my fingers because i've broken into your house for an apple!
