Rituals before riding? (Offroad)

Felt like a less serious thread. :P

Anyway, curious what strange rituals/checks people perform before riding.

I like having short toe nails. I dunno why, but the prospect of ripping one off really gets to me. Its probably the least likely thing I'll hurt given I wear boots etc. But I always make sure they're trimmed.

Cant say I have any except for checking then double checking that I have everything. Been on numerous rides where firends have forgotten stuff like helmets. Never worried about my toe nails.

I push the bike out of the garage, close it.
Forget that my gloves are still inside....Walk around the house, remember I have locked the garage, so have to get the remote from inside.
Once done, I close up, get outside, then forget my Licence in my wallet...
Open the house, wander through and get that...:done:
Then, all geared up ready, I left my GPS inside on charge...:)
In I go again, do the same, undress, disrobe, unlid myself......Geez! Will I ever get out for a ride?
So...finally, head out down the road, the sweat is pouring off my brow and the goggles are all foggy....
It is a great start to a long ride.....:laugh:

I always have a powerade beforehand and stretch my quads and hammies like crazy.

I used to get some major cramp after I'd been riding. I remember both legs cramping up in the back of a friends Terrano and getting him to rush me to McDonald's to get me some salt.

I did have some lucky undies but they didn't help me at ALL during my first race so they are now retired :p.
I think the only thing I really do consistently is feel nauseous/butterflies before riding somewhere I've never been before.

Riding whats that, I've had so much time off everything I've learnt in my short 2-3 year career has vanished! Got this new seat cover with a step/bump in it that's been on for 5 -6 weeks I haven't even tried out?? Might have to go out for a blat soon. Me an my son may go on the next Moto ride, might take my daughter to keep Sammy company!

No worries, I've had a couple of rides, one at the Sandpit (back on the horse) and one at Ardmore Wed evening. Still a bit "one armed" but that just makes right handers easier.. :laugh: Aiming to go to Sandpit this Sunday...

Good man climintie. A decent slam can mess up the mind as well as body. Grim reaper just trying to score a point back. There'll definitely be a ritual of some kind to keep him off your case - but I wouldn't get into that because you're bound to forget one day.

Actually, I do have a ritual to chuck in here. I always take 3 slow deep breaths on the start line to settle down and focus - really works a treat for me. I like to be in Bhudda mode.

I finally landed my first halfway decent jump on a mates track in Ramarama (had nailed myself on it 2 weeks earlier). I was talking myself into it before approacing, after landing it you could say I was pretty excited under my helmet... :woohoo:

My only real pre ride ritual is a game of "heads, shoulders, knees and toes"... Helmet, goggles, boots and pads... ;) Would hate to drive wherever for a ride and realise I've left something at home.
