after this years mission on a yamaha Jog, it was time to trump it.
Unfortunatly, I am currently sick, but this is the plan

And to do it all on a rental GN250

I hope to survive it (http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=dee+why&daddr=alice+springs+to:cairns+to:brisbane+to:sydne y&hl=en&geocode=FZX2_P0dJG8ECSllPDGdhKoSazFh9lCQcT_JRg%3BF Xpclv4dOdz6Byk9KoKnEBwyKzF5HjbM_uevPg%3BFSu9_f4dSl qwCCkF3t6YkWZ4aTEu9L-AeJDLJA%3BFcTgXP4dNAUfCSmTRr5wBFqRazGTl2rdS2RSgg%3 B&mra=ls&sll=-26.076521,143.129883&sspn=27.813344,39.506836&ie=UTF8&ll=-26.076521,143.349609&spn=27.813344,39.506836&z=5)

Stick with the bike... and ride up the NSW coast... there is a lot more to see and do.. also gas and communication arent going to be a problem..

When you get to QLD just keep going...
The sunshine coast is great to visit
Heaps of bikini clad chickies...
go up to Frazer Island and have a look..
You will love it down the Gold Coast.... lots to do...
Can still get up to Townsville or cairns if you wish to keep going.
Townsville is about 1500 ks from here.

The drive to the Alice may be a bit boring....
FA to see... And when you get there..
Its just a big red rock sticking out of the ground.....

Really?
Suggesting a new to Aussie rider, rides between dusk and early morning is quite silly. Hell, even in a little rental car it is very unwise.
My Wreckair truck got intimate with a droughtmaster bullock 150kms nth of Sandfire, coming back from a minesite delivery at night. Took the bullbar/front panels/ etc out, and disabled it due to a smashed radiator.
And you suggest riding a bike while camels/bulls/roo's, even lil ol goanna's use the road as a heat source at night.
Great advice buddy.

Yes it is good advice, your wreckair truck only got intimate with the droughtmaster as (a) you were asleep or going to fast,or maybe your lights were not turned on, for fuck sake you fellas drive around at speed with your eyes shut, always easy for those that mouth off to fall on their faces before they know who they are talking to.!!
Never lived in a town and have travelled Aus night and day with a horse in the float from state to state, never hit a Roo or other wise I think you may of read to many books or listerned to a heap of stories from the drunks that hang aroung the bars:apint:most of them hit shit on the road going home pissed, of course there are animals on the road for christ sake, one almost has to write a book before you towners get the meaning of a post..

Maybe I should of told carver to ride inside a bubble to stay safe from all the hidden dangers, fuck I think he knows what he is doing. And he alone shall decide when he rides, not by my advice.

In my experience, most of the drunks hit shit off the road - such as trees - than animals on the road. Most of the animal strikes amongst my friends have been stone cold sober. Fortunately all the ones I've hit have been in a car.

My wife used to have a 50-60km commute each way, she was one of about 10 commuters. On average, once a week one of them would hit an animal - roos, wallabies, wombats, even the odd sheep. That was within 2hrs of Sydeney.

With a horse float, state-to-state you'd be trundling along fairly slowly, and sticking to major highways, and doing large chunks late at night. Low risk.

Kev's were something along the lines of "Girly squeel....Oh get that thing away from me.....girly squeel" (refers to "Betty" the snake)

Biut Carver had a cuddle and a few pics taken.

Hoping to organise a little tour of the hinterland this week, if only he hadn't brought the crappy NZ weather with him!

The weather was better today, so tone on his ER6f and one of his mates on a DL650, Kev and I took out a GSX650F with Kev on the back. (courtusy of Tone)
The roads out here are pretty good, a bit like doing the tight parts of the loop in the bush, but a bit less technical and dangerous.
but imagine that with a 60kph limit!
crazy, its not too hard to sit on 100 on the roads.
had a great time, and a big thanks to tone for letting us use the GSX650

He he, I had a top day out as well, no tickets, no crashes, no rain, no stress!

Had the lads over for dinner and Kev brought several bottles of his home brew....strong stuff!

They headed off home at about 10pm to stack up some ZZZ's

I don't think Carverr has quite made up his mind yet between driving his little rental car 2000km into the desert to take a photo of a roadhouse at the junctiopn of 3 states...or to set up base camp around here for 1-2 day sorties into the surrouinding area.

NBot to put undue presure on him, but really...if you have seen 500k's of desert.....you have seen em all!

Wouldn't panic, don't think central Aus knows what broadband, online,or even good mobile coverage is .
Besides, he's probably copulating with a Wombat right now.

You worry too much Kev!

I'm sure he has met a nice family of "Real" aussies and is soaking up some local culture.

(I wish I was more competent at this photo tampering game!)

So, he headed west with no map and no comms, right?

Hmmm, not too many brain cells travelln with him either I'd say!

Telstra next g works in the most unlikely places, but I guess a genius like Carver would have taken just a NZ voda!!!!!!

Oh well, the prospects for the future of the gene pool are improving by the day now............................................... ..........................................

Go well and enjoy Carver.

In life, there are those that can and do, there are also those that can't so they usually teach, then there are those that never will, so they sit about writing rules to prevent you succeeding where they could not or would not!

I have seen people plan themselves into complete cock up's despite their meticulous preparations!

You get only one shot at life so if winging it is your thing, wing away, at least you are doing it the way "you" know best!

Enjoy your trip, I know I am so far, I enjoyed your video on the little scooter too, :scooter: good luck oh and happy new year. Cheers, John.

Im feeling ya Kev....It's just too hard for us old dogs to learn new tricks. I often get a passing teenager to fix my mobile phone for me...saves hours of fustration and swearing!

did you know that if you push and hold the # key, your ph will go silent so you can go to the movies...press it again and back to normal!
