I just recently bought this brand new: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Scooters/auction-262828377.htm
Its a 4-Stroke 49CC Manual bike, the only problems i'm having with it is that I live in Hillcrest which as the names suggest has a few hills, and this thing sucks and climbing them.
Any suggestions on How I could get more power out this beast so I can start to conquer these hills?

Moped registration rules state maximum speed of 50km/h so engine is regulated to 50km/h, but can be deregulated for off road and then can go up to 75km/h..
have you de-restricted it?, you will get a bit more power out of it, but you will still suck on hills.
my 2stroke 50cc scooter does 75km/h on the flat, and will do 60'ish up the hills in Hilllcrest.

Yea the guy I bought it off assured me its been de-restricted, sucks balls up hill though,
He said I should push it past 50kph for the first 300km anyways, since its brand new.

Seems there are big bore kits for the ss50 to take them out to 88cc.
This is an old auction but could be a start?
A bit expensive tho

That money plus the bike's worth = More than advertised RG150's price.
If you want power, the best mod is to upgrade the bike not the engine.

Bore and stroke to 650 cc using the new Yamaha cross plane single cylinder "Big Bang"crankshaft...sequentailly turbo charge it with an interooler and aftercooler, timed port injection, set compression at 13.7:1 running on methanol and for those particular steep hills....fit a wet NOS kit ........
get a custom pinstripe....
And....I am surprised I was the first smartarse to come along....other than Hadyn

if you increase the bore size and do not change the registration to motorbike, and you get found out by the cops, there will be trouble.
ride the scoot for 6 months, do not crash it, then convince your mum you are safe enough to upgrade to a bike.
there is also a power output limit on mopeds, if you crash into someone and they chuck it on a dyno, your up shit creek again (insurance wont pay out)
in the case of an ACC investigation, they are allowed to gather information from Telecomunication companies, so typing out here is another way for them to find out about your upgrades.
as of the 1st of November last year, if you get caught doing over 50km/h on a moped (regardless of area speed limit) you will receive a speeding ticket.
55km/h in a 60km/h zone?.... ticket. 75km/h in a 100km/h zone?....ticket.
just a few things to think about before you touch your bike.
if your serious.

oh and get some gear, and training before you upgrade to a bike propper.
I've had 2 offs on the scoot now, both could have been avoided by training good habits, and my injuries avoided by better gear (no jacket first time round, no bike pants/boots second, off work for a week on this one).

With the single cylinder Yamaha cross plane crank you can ge more power down on the road due to the "Big Bang" firing order....

Yeah my little 50cc doesn't like the hills either, top speed up the hill is 40km/h..
..but yeah i reckon you should stick with the bike for a while, then when your more confident etc,get yourself a 150 or 250..:)

The only problem is im stuck with this bike for 3 years, thats what I promised the olds. When I move out then I can upgrade no sweat.

you can also sit your Learner license, ride your mates bike around a bit and be ready to take your restricted test/full when you do move out.
Stage 3 – Full licence
You can apply for a full licence after 18 months on your restricted licence if you are under 25 years old, or after six months on your restricted licence if you are 25 or older.
If you successfully complete an approved course, the length of time you must hold your restricted licence for will be reduced to 12 months for those aged under 25 years, and three months for those 25 or older. You must present the course certificate to the driver licensing agent when you book the practical test

Another option would have been to get a larger scooter for the same money, parents dont find them so threatening.
