my friend is thinking of applying for the nzherald paper run job. Does anyone know how much it pays and how much papers you have to deliver?

Is this a straight up post? Has he considered ringing them? Surely the numbers of papers he delivers depends on the area he's delivering to.

depends - Is he applying for the 'whole of Christchurch' job, or just the Cashmere run?

when I was a youngun (a few years ago) I did a Hearld run before I was old enough to work in the stupidmarket for a few years. Was reasonably good pay for the age I was and the people I used to deliver to used to give me tips($), really good ones at Xmas time. Very early starts from memory as they had to be delivered before 6am. I just did selected suburbs of Rotovegas and it took me about an hour. I dont recommend doing it on a 10 speed bike, they tend to fall over when the saddle bags become uneven and gravel hurts!
Tell your mate to stop being a wuss and ring the people. Be good for him to do as when he is older he should be able to get a job in a stupid market, petrol station, fast food joint etc etc if he does well. It's not easy work so you do earn your pay.

why do people make post like this?
I wonder how much a paper run pays? should I:
a) call the paper offering the job, or
b) post on KiwiBiker - after all with 4 post someone else will do the legwork for me.
Seriously what happened to common sense.

I read the recent obituary... didn't realise it was true.
