I am now back home again after spending 4 days in hospital for Adominal Hysterectomy
MadDuck, thanks for calling in to see me in hospital, when you were on your way to Taupo.
Thanks to those who sent me well wishes in "PM".
The surgery on Friday morning went well, but Sunday night my left lung collapsed. I had a infection and they were treating me for Pneumonia.
I am ok now... just at home resting and recovering.
I aint allowed to lift a thing for 6 weeks... so no housework, no hanging up washing or mowing the lawns.. etc etc etc
I will not be out riding my bike for 8 weeks.
I can sit at the comp for short periods of the day.... otherwise I am sleeping or lying on the bed watching TV.
So all ride safe out and keep on smiling.... :D

Hope your recovery goes well. Take care. I expect your post count will have a dramatic increase - nothing like KB to while away the boredom.

lol yeah well the Friday night nurse took the Pethadine pump off me cos she reckons I was hitting it too much... and I wasnt even touching it.... one has to press hard to make it work...
They drugged me totally after the op as I was in a lot of pain after the op in the recovery room.

This just got me thinking. Have to get my bike runnin again by the time you can ride again Crashe. Me and Slash here want to do a ride for cruisers. Seems everytime we show up at a KB ride it's dominated by sporties. Figure just a nice comfortable cruise round the Corromandel or some such. Nothing more than a few K's over the limit. Think you'll feel up for that when you get better?

Sounds great mate.
But when I first get back on the bike, I may just do a few very short rides to build up my stamina again....
But when I am up to it..... lets do it. :ride: :ride: :ride: :ride:

Hi Crashe - been there, done that, but thank god for me it was without the infection/pneumonia.
Take VERY GOOD care of yourself - it is a major operation and took me a long time to get back to strength. Don't ride your bike too soon - I couldn't believe how weak I was for a long time afterwards.

Thanks Lynda.....
I took painkillers last night as I was going to bed, and I managed to sleep for 7 hours... I forgot to take them the night before and man was I uncomfortable...
Yep I will only get back on the bike when Dr's say I can and it will only be short rides like 10km trips for a day or so and then build up the km's slowly......

Wot?! 8 weeks? Harden up. You'll do it in 54 days if you put your mind to it. GWS lass
Been there, done that myself too. Had the big cut, not the laproscopic version. This makes a big difference in your recovery - which was it for you?
I'm going to contradict Lynda's experience & tell you that I was on the bike within 3 weeks & back to work at the 3 week mark, feeling about 95% recovered. Mind you, I didn't have your complications to deal with.
Get your rest (nana naps are great, eh? ;) ) but don't forget to get yourself moving too. I'm a great believer in mind over matter, and a positive outlook towards your recovery will make a big difference. Believe me.

Nup this is a strict 8 weeks of being off the bike...
If I ride sooner than I am allowed to..... then I could do more damage to my insides. This is the one time I am obeying dr's orders.

I had the BIG CUT.... and I asked my gyno and she stated 8 weeks.
Its something to do with lifting the bike up off the stand and doing damage in side..... I aint allowed to lift a thing for 6 weeks.
Im allowed to drive my car after 3 weeks.

A gentle PT - 8 weeks = 56 days minus 2 days at least since op. Doesn't sound so long that way. You'll be fine
