hi,
i'm fixing up an SJ50QT for a mate.. it has been in a crash and had the front end run over.
put new forks and a front wheel on it and it's all sweet, chucked a new battery in it also.
this morning i discovered the battery had gone flat in 36 hrs with the key off.
It was fully charged when i put it in and reading over 13 volts.
i hooked up a multimeter to see if anything was happening with the key off and sure enough something is pulling around 120 milli amps. 450 ma with key on.
any suggestions as to what might be happening and where I should start looking for the culprit?

Is there a light under the seat or something similar?

You might have hit the nail on the head there! There is a light... and I do recall the seat not shutting properly. I'll check out the latch and switch when I get home and hopefully that's all it is! Thanks

The battery could still be fooked despite a 13V reading. It's what's known as a surface charge. How does it load test? Turn the headlight on and measure the battery voltage drop for an indication. (EDIT: missed the fact it was new!)

120mA isn't much but it's more than it should be. It could also be a faulty rectifier diode. Try disconnecting the charging circuit and remeasure the draw.
