KZ1000 LTD. what octane fuel should I be running him on? Saw a similar post in the noobs section, and thought Id better check...I have two manuals and neither of them mention the octane of the fuel. Or if they do I dont know where to look for it.
Ive been using the higher octane fuel. seems to run ok. But id hate to find out Ive damaged something.

Try and sorce some A1, you will notice a remarkable difference more or less straight away and the only real bugger will be, faster wear on the tyre treads than normal.

The normal high octane is fine.
You should go and paddle his butt anyway.

ok, but that still does not answer my question of 'what is A1"
give me an answer on that first. If he is indeed having me on, then a spot of gratuitous paddling may be forthcoming

I think he is refering to A1 Jet Fuel wich is basicaly Kerosene, Av gas is what they feed the piston aircraft, that would give your Z a we tickel, not sure what the octane value on Av gas is, but it is higher than 98 octane, will PM you a mates Ph No, that has had a little to do with Z's, he may or may not answer your questions.

You might find the Z pings when running regular grade petro-swill. You won't do any damage running higher than necessary octane, but you sure as hell can do damage by running fuel thats too low. It might also be necessary to put additive in the fuel to make up for the lack of lead, which used to be there to cushion valve seats. Do you have an owners manual for the bike, that will give the definitive answer on what gas to use.
Accordong to this site http://kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=76&Itemid=50 the compression is only 9.2:1 so av gas isn't going to do much good (or harm)

Ive been running the higher octane and adding goop to the tank. I figured because of his age he would have been desinged to run on leaded fuel.
I do have two manuals, but buggered if I can find the info I need. Why are these things not arranged in a sensible order??? bloody men- mutter- grumble-
Maha...Ratti owes you one butt paddle. Cheeky blighter, poor old Zed as if an old nana bike needs avgas..tsk tsk
