Wellington Sunday (Sunday 14 March) Afternoon Ride - Waikanae to Vinegar Hill plus backroads.

Startpoint - SH1 outside the Waikanae New World Supermarket car park northern end of township.

Departure: 1pm.

Ride plan... It is a repeat or thereabouts of a popular ride used back in February but will be flexible depending on the group.

Waikanae - Levin - Shannon - Ashhurst - Feilding - Cheltenham - Vinegar Hill - Ohingaiti - Pemberton - Rangiwahia - Peep-o-day - Kimbolton - Feilding - Sanson - Waikanae.

All riders new and used welcome - open invitation for all bike types and people to join us for a little adventure into the wilderness - I've never ridden this route before but Colin has and will lead the way on the Goldwing.

Join at any point - just let me know where beforehand (0212510017).

Ride your own ride or tag along but we will stop for catch up points to regroup or inject caffeine and food/fuel where needed if we get spread out.

Weather forecast for Sunday afternoon is ideal - the ride will be on regardless. :done:

Well he is bringing his Mrs, so I would say yes. There will be a decent stop somewhere without a doubt.... and a couple or so catch up stops along the way.

You should post this in the Mahawatu (tm) Ride thread, most of them are asleep on Saturdays but they will more than likely tag on at some point on Sunday. You will even go right passed the front door of two of them in Ashhurst.

I think its about 100km, depending on the group speed give us say an hour and a bit to get there. We can make it a stop and wait for you. There must be a useful petrol station there of some sort to meet at.

You'll probably find its now a Gull?, it changed from a Mobil last September I think, same time as that party we went to at Al's.

I found it was the distant sounds of banjo music had me entranced yesterday, like the mermaids hypnotised the fishermen of old, i shuddered but felt frozen to the spot !
That was untill someone mentioned we had walked in on a coppers wedding party !

Might tag along this arvo if long hairs are allowed, love the reasonable start time :sunny:

Well I have no idea! Today is a good riding day that is for sure.

Click on the calendar link at the bottom of the first post Colin, it takes you to a calendar link that gives people the sme information but listed in the calendar so it is easy to find. It also gives you the option at the bottom to list yourself as coming on the ride.

For those keen to come but wondering what the pace will be, remember this is a social ride. Racers feel free to go ahead, slower riders, you will be taken care of and there will be plenty of catch up points as we go. Get into it, the sun is shining!

So the meeting place in Ashhurst is still at the petrol station?

Yes it will be. Seems a bit of debate as to what the station is but there cant be too many there. I am on a black Hayabusa, Big Col on a Goldwing. Roughly around 2pm/2:15pm or so.

Nice to meet new faces along the way. Great company good laughs and great roads and riding.

Great mix of bikes on the ride, from several Harleys, sportsbikes, Tourers and cruise missles.

I would like to dedicate this ride to Captain Howdy.

Can only agree, a good way to get rid of a tank of fuel. Got home with fuel light showing, You got fuel cells hidden in the boot ? lol even with the top up in ashurst, i had to peel off at shannon and top up again, Don't think the reserve is workin so it could have got embarrassing !
Love the mobility scoota you have listed there haha understatment for sure !
Was thinkin the speed triple be the better bike for that ride, but heard ya were doing it on the wing so took the bopboppa thinking it would be a leisurely pace through the backblocks, haha Know i slept bloody well last night !

I hadn't registered as funds are real tight not working and the day is a Monday, hopeful I would be back working by then. Will call em and see if there are spots left.

As for fuel, I could have made it back when I realised I still had 3 litres left in the tank after fuelling up at Otaki. The pace of the ride was great! Are you going to the trackday?

Ok so there was this one guy...... who got quite serious, but soon cooled down when i told him to look up my work history and he found proffesional pussy kisser under previous (there wasn't an option for lion trainer)
