Wow what a fun weekend!!! It was bloody fantastic to catch up with you all and ride down on friday and the forgotten highway on Sat were both fantastic rides.

The venue was great, the rooms warm and cozy and the owners friendly and accomodating.

Great to put a face and real name to some of the "characters" of this site and share a few laughs.

Being one of those that took a lie down on the Sunday I would also like to thank one and all for the degree of help and friendly concern shown. An especially big thanks should go out to Lance, a Harley rider from Taumarunui, who picked me and the bike up, "Borrowíng"a trailer from a friend down the road and going out of this way with his little girl to drop me and the bike back to the motel.

Another thanks should again go out to the owners of the motel and the restaurant who supplied at short notice a vehicle and trailer so KG could drive out to pick us up, only to find the local Lance had beaten him to it. Not to mention giving me a secure place to store the bike until I pick it up this coming week.

For those that are interested, I might have been dancing around fairly well this morning but after riding Andrews bike back in the torrential rain that KG described (Good bloke that CCcleaner(SP)) I took my leathers off to reveal a black leg.. thinking it was leater stain at first.. but no.. it was real and internal :shit:

Funniest qoute of the weekend for me (Sorry dude) was the VTR following me when I hit the diesel..."I thought wow greg has fallen off, where did that sky come from..... Damn!!!".

Nuff said... Oh and thank you to the car behind me that, although he could not stop on the diesel did managed not to run over me or treat me as motorbike dickhead!!!

Thought for the day... When you lie down and realised you have just destroyed the bike you have been building for 4 years, a full set of leathers, wets and a $1200 helmet, its a good time to contemplate if this biking malarky is actually worth it all.... I did.

and the answer is absolutely!!!!!!

(Thanks Qickkids for the organisation!!)

Twas an excellent weekend even with the rain. Cruised on up sat morning passed 6 marked and at least one unmarked cars belonging to the establishment and a couple of them were "making contact with the public". Spent the afternoon/night in the hot pools drinking appropiate quatities of ale and general chit chat . sat morning saw a few of us brave the rain and go for a quick tour up the mountian and along a canel and around then back to the hot pool for more ale and general chit chat. It was good to catch up with other KB guys and gals from around the country. The tent sprung a couple of leakes sat night and there were a few offers of a spare bed one of which I took up - thanks guys. Ride home today was wet wet wet and gale force winds top of desert road and near bulls. Still swa 5 members of the establishments and some of which were still "making contact with the public". I'm definitly a starter for next year

Yep, thanks to everyone for a great time. It was awesome to meet you all. The pack ride round the Forgotten HW was an example of how to do it right.
Sorry to hear about the 'spills' from the diesel 'spills'. As if in sympathy, I had two diesel related events in close proximity on the way home too. Just about to overtake a line of petrified cagers at 70KPH on SH1, wound on the old fizzer a bit to pass, and time slowed down as I found myself travelling sideways with the rear wheel spinning up and the RPM increasing rapidly. I have no idea how I remained upright, as I think I got totally out of shape and got snapback, gyroscopic precedence I guess.
Soon after, pulled into Ngaruawahia BP next to the pumps, put me foot down and instantly found myself lying down with the fizzer sleepin next to me. I couldn't believe it. Props to the cager gents for helping me lift it.
Looking forward to next year already.

A couple more.
Found some new tracks.
SH22 and the Kawhia Road were fantastic.
28kms of metal with half of it freshly graded was less so.

Awesome weekend everyone. I had a blast. Even a spill and some wet weather didn't put that much of a dampener on it. Thanks to the QKs for organising the event and another big thanks to all who gave us a hand on Sunday.

Monday morning brought a reasonably slow ride down to Napier. Weather cleared just as I started to drop down from the hills. Hopefully the weather will clear up again for the run back to Auckland this afternoon.

Greg, I hope your leg doesn't have any major damage. I'm happy to say that my shoulder is pretty much fine now.

Anyway, thanks again everybody for a fun weekend. It was great to meet you all and put some faces to names.

Cheers, Mike.

Thanks to everyone for making my first KB trip so worth while.. It was great how helpful, you were to a newbie, and it was a hell of a lot of fun on the weekend...

Enjoyed the ride down, even if I lost most of the feeling in my fingers.. But that's all good...

Had a nice ride around lake Taupo, with Andy and partner, which was really good.. Lovely day for it....

And to Gingin (I think), you were more than welcome to get in out of the tent, and in to a warm room... And you didn't even snore tooo much.. :D

I had a quiet ride home on Monday, on my own, in the rain, and boy was that wind strong.. Stopped off in Hamilton at my parents, and had a cuppa, before heading home to Waitakere..

All in all, a really good weekend, and thanks to all.. Will be there next time, with bells on... :)... and I'm going to bring along, as it is said, the better half...

It was good to catch up with all of you guys , but I have to say this just wasn't much of gathering for me. Just didn't have spirit like last year , and it is not weather or the fact that I have take my kid with me , and I didn't drink and being silly like some of you. I have all that last year.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy it but how do you expect of me to feel as guys (Auckland regional group ) that ride down on Saturday left us behind because we were 5 min late. Was going to do forgotten highway but decide not to do it alone as if we have off, be no one to help out. I don't need anyone to hold my hand and take me around I'm big boy but group ride down be nice. As we arrive down you guys that arrive down on Friday gone and done rides , I know weather was bad on Sunday so you gone for ride on Saturday . No ride on Sunday.
Few of you try to make this feel like gathering and get together you done good job "cc rider" , don't think I didn't see that , I appreciated you coming to our room and invite us to join you. But me and my girl still have good time, and to top it up on Monday I was waken up by sound of bikes that are ready to go and no one let us know what time you leaving or invite us to join you for ride to Auckland " those fuck en Aucklandes". So me and my girl were last one to check out and ride home alone, but hey I'm never alone as I have my kid with me. We nearly got taken of road on way home before Kihikihi, by one of those milk truck and trailer coming from other side sending river of weather on us from road paddles, I menage to get throw it with my had up if I duck it will take my pillion of the bike.
But hey maybe is just me missing my mnkyboy, hope to see you all next year.

I don't know, you bastards with bikes that still go!!! Recon my Madass would make the trip? (probably only if I was tripping)

I spent tonight digging (almost literally) mud and grass out of my engine.. its amazing how much you can force through a little hole in a crankcase when you mix with speed and stir with effort  and yes I did mean out of the insides of my engine

On the flip side I think I have now ordered everything I need to get it back on the road.. from and get this, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, China, UK and Germany!!!!! Bikes a bloody multi-national beast of the street!!!!

Now where talking... Order myself some new ones from AusFr the other day along with some other "bits" to put it all back together.

So you gonna polish the frame??? lot of work that, just stripping down and rebuilding.... will be impressive when you're done.

Actually I'm going to change the mirrors while I am having to replace one... any suggestions for what would look good? Needs to be in fitting with the Gothic look... raptor look is going away due to not being able to source the same headlight unit again and it really is a bit beyond repair!!!

I will be sticking with the Dark features though.

Nah mate, polishin too much work after giving it some thought. Matt black the frame, satin black the tank n body, Gloss black the wheels, R1 arse on it. Fatbars n risers., Micron pipe. Koso clocks, Twin Bates like the speed triple. Ohlins. motors real sweet so its worth it.

I'm with KG, you'd built a hell of a bike for a lot less than you will probably get for the old girl.

Ohlins, decent pipes, fightered, paint job, some trick looking bits..... you'red have a personalised road tool that delivers!!

BTW, I need to recommend Northern Radiators.. good bloke, looked at my mangled rad and just said, yeah, I'll cut that off get one off another more damaged Rad and you'll be in business , when do you need it  That's a can do attitude.

Yeah theres heaps of choosing to do with Koso. I like the RX2 but its spensive!
Is there anyone round here that can supply the full range or is it only Koso direct for the clever stuff?
I think Toebug does some on Tardme, but they seem to be the basic ones.
Got me risers today. Next is the lights.

Discussing how to fighter a VTR and issues with rads etc .... although I don't like the colour etc this is a pretty good example of the look and shape you can get... simple rad replacement sorts the dual rad problems.

Euro Streetfigther VTR (http://www.europeanstreetfighter.com/index.php?page=galZoom&ID=37&imgId=1)

And Mike here is a whole artical dedicated to doing the mods you might need

Step by step guide (http://www.superstreetbike.com/features/0702_sbkp_honda_vtr1000_street_fighter/index.html) This one looks better but...

The world is your oyster... as this one has a rad hidden in the tail

The VTR's look good. I went and checked mine out today. Structurally should still be ok. Mostly just fairing, pipes and handlebars. Radiator took a knock, but not badly. Some SF'ed lhave left them side mounted without it looking too bad. I'll certainly be asking them how much to buy back. But still, someone asked me today whether I wanted a bike to ride or to tinker with. And the possibility of being allowed to 'invest' some additional bucks to upgrade is certainly appealing.
