View Full Version : It's the 'KB way'...

I don't expect anyone to take notice of this, or anything to change. Nor do I lose any sleep over this, but it is something I'm sick of seeing on the forums.

There are nearly 20,000 members on this site, 0ver 4000 active. Yet whenever someone jumps to a conclusion, speaks ill of a company, or if a few (never more than 100) members agree, it gets called the 'KB way'. It never gets called a 'human characteristic', no no, because it happened on KB we'll make a wide sweeping statement that it's a KB characteristic. Which to me is just a cop out, a very weak argument that holds no water whatsoever.

There are members here who will quite happily say things like, 'the majority of people here....'. The majority? Really? I'd consider the majority to be 51% or more of the active members at least, if not the entire membership, which means at least 2000 people (or 10,000). It makes your point very weak when you say something stupid as that. Yet people will reply agreeing that yeah it is the majority.

The 'KB Kangaroo Court'? No such thing I'm afraid. There is no unique KB way. All these things existed well before KB, well before the internet. So before you label something as the 'KB way' think about it. What is KB? It's a meeting place, of nearly 20,000 individuals, who all have unique traits. There is no 'KB way'.

Thanks for reading. Rant over.

apparently people who can't get their facts straight begin sentences with the word apparently.

apparently people who have loud voices on KB think they represent the rest of us, so they feel they can claim the term "the majority"

I like to reply with "I've got your majority right here" whilst grabbing at my crotch
Apparently this is immature

OAB: it's the KB way to ignore sense and sensibility, the majority told me so

That's just your opinion...I'm sure the majority here would disagree (tongue firmly in cheek)

You mean there might be other online forums, which like weirdly parallel universes, display all the same characteristics as our beloved KB? Blimey!

Public polls are generally taken with a sample of between 400 and 1000 people and they usually claim an accuracy rating of + / - 4%, as being representative of the majority.

Having said that, KB is an ecclectic gathering of a cross-section of society with a common interest in bikes.

Based upon my own research here I believe the majority of members consider myself to be one of a select few who are qualified to make reasonable and accurate posts on any topic.

:shifty:

I've thought it many times but someone has finally said it ! You can't generalise - KB is a make up of a huge spectrum of people. Just cause we ride bikes doesn't mean we agree on things or that I even want to hang out with half of you losers........LOL

This kind of rant is so typical of KB. It really is a fine example of what I have come to think of as the KB way. :Pokey::rofl:

It's about this stage in a thread that the conversation inevitably turns to a learned discussion about beer, a gratuitous slur is made about the purveyors of snowfreezes, Hitler gets referenced or somebody achieves the Grand Slam.

That is the KB way.

Its not the fact of how many member there are,its a fact of how many actually contribute

its like an election,if you dont vote then dont bitch.

Its not the KB way,its just the way of those that vote, and speak up,which after all is a minority.

so its the way of the vocal minority, but since the majority are silent, which way are they?

fact is,the silent majority are not recognised unless they choose to have a voice.
