Ugh! what the hell is that?

Thats a 1000RR, but yeah the cb1000r would look way better with a stubby exhaust right before that nice SSSA!

blackdog
28th April 2010, 16:48
yea i realise its a diff model

that stubby on that model is the nicest sound a bike can make, expect would be very sim on the predator

Not a big fan of that or the one on the current blade, but there are worst offenders than that around... check out the rusty looking colostomy bag you get on your $30k S1000R. Nice  The bazooka mounted to the Griso?

Problem is, with the blade, as you've shown above, the aftermarket ones are even stupider looking... except maybe the Taylormade one.

Can't upload a photo cos I'm at work but a 2009 GSXR 1000 would have to be the worst.
Worse than the 600 and 750 cos there's two of them.

My vote goes to the standard SV1000 cans.

Worst looking or sounding? Not sure what they sound like but the b-kings stock looks like something out of the industrial age.

I mean, could they have made them any bigger!Ironically, that's (the big twin cans look) one thing that most SV thou owners love (obviously not me haha). Some of the 650 guys fit dual systems to get that look, not really sure why they'd want the extra weight though

WHY KTM WHYYYYY
<img src=http://i43.tinypic.com/27wx5qr.jpg>
<img src=http://i41.tinypic.com/mpthh.jpg>
Why add such large clunky looking exhausts to an otherwise lightweight bike?

The 690 SMC is a much better pick than this 690 SMR.
For comparison, here's a picture I saved of one with aftermarket exhaust underneath. Add a tail tidy and it would be very trick.

Wow, Suzuki really like making ugly exhausts.

Stock B-King - what a difference a pair of Yoshis make to that bike!

Late model GSXR thou - stupid looking banana muffs (a lot of work to make them though!) apparently Moto-GP inspired!!!!!

New V4 Aprilia - looks like a cardboard fold up box template.

That Honda 1000 pipe is all cover - I can't understand why they painted it silver- black would be sooo much better.

Harley - XR Sportster thingy - HD dumb arses missed one of the most important HD flat tracker signatures - the high mount twin pipes. If Triumph can manage it on their Scrambler surely HD could have (the aftermarket has come to the rescue).

New R1 - actually the entire styling of the new R1 - a good example of how to take one of the best looking modern sports bikes and ruin it.

Concours Kawa, Suzuki GSX1400 (single can one), Honda CB1300 - good grief those are BIG cans!!!!!!!!!!!!

New MV - I don't get the new square edge quad rear pipes - round was so much more attractive.

Rune's are OK because they are the best sounding stock exhausts on any motorcycle I've tested.

The high pipes on the Scrambler are one of its worst features.

Predator muffler works fine with the style of the rest of the bike too.

B-King gets my vote followed by the entire Multistrada Exhaust system.

Buell 1125 is a shocker too - but it's hidden.

They should fire the exhaust guy at Honda!

But i must say the VFR is a beautiful bike....apart from the exhaust.

I get this feeling that they know most people will replace them for custom exhaust anyway so they design some monstrosity to fit the cat and pass the emission regualtions.

pritch
29th April 2010, 20:18
The Euro 3 emissions regs are at the root of all this, those big cans are needed to pass the tests.
The situation is only going to get worse and you can't really blame the designers.

A Devil can looks great on the CB1000R though.

The KTM is a bit different, that looks like an exhaust that's designed to cross streams. Dunno about those tyres though.

Still the akrapovic on the aprilia is near enough

Yeh I reckon the same with the ugly rear guard and number plate on most bikes! I imagine they have to have a rear guard to get the bikes past most countries regs. But I can't understand why they don't design them with the number plate tucked right up under the tail light and a rear guard extension you could just unbolt so it was automatically a tail tidy situation once removed??

The first one is the new Honda VFR1200. Yeah the pipe on the bike is ugly, should have done the black theme like the third bike did.

Does it really need twin pipes for a single cylinder? :P
Even the KTM 690smc has a single pipe and that's a more performance orientated bike.

Interesting. It does appear that there are two sides to that story though. Devil say that that the former US importer didn't pay his bills and that message was his way of getting even when they wouldn't supply him.

Energy Honda, New Plymouth, are/were importing Devil. Next time I'm in there I'll ask.
