Seldom do I rant on about things I can't change... but this is really fucking me off royally.

I've been trying for the last 3 weeks to book a practical test for my restricted licence.

Why is it taking so freaking long?

Cos they don't test on weekends... "why do you need a weekend?" I hear you ask:

Hubby works in Wiri so leaves at 5.30am and comes back around 7pm. He's just started his job, so can't ask for time off yet, and fair enough too.

So anyway, I have to look after our kids (which I have no probs with, it is my job after all) during weekdays. And no, there isn't family I can leave them with and I need to run the oldest to and from school from Henderson to Albany.

Now, one might say...maybe if you could prebook a test and kind of ask a special favour to hubby's employer?

Well, of course not, don't be so fucking stupid, there is no way it could be that easy, now could it?
I'd have to ring them with my credit card and potential day offs from hubby and then they would see if any possible might work with them.

YOU UTTER, UTTER BASTARDISED WANKERS!!!!

Please note: I do not direct this at anyone actually working for the AA or the Land and Transport Agency, cos I know you're only doing your job, and you've all tried to be helpful. BUT THAT BOOKING SYSTEM SUCKS!!

Right, rant over...I feel a little better now. If anyone knows a way to do this that could help, I'd be grateful

Is it not possible to leave them with a pre-school or some such for the day? If getting to the test or somesuch is an issue I can help you out there, that's no biggie.

Thought about that too. But no pre school I've rang take an 11 months old on short notice for just a couple of hours. Most of them are pre booked months in advance.
And thanks for the offer, thats really nice of you :)

St Lukes Mall has a crèche for their mummie shoppers....they don't need to know that you have absolutely no intention of actually shopping there!

Your welcome :D

Some of the branches do weekend tests. It may be a case of ringing around, asking and going a little further afield.

I did one of mine on a Saturday.

AA Westgate do Saturdays.

AA Quay Street also do Saturdays (well, they used to)

IIRC, so do Brown's Bay.

You two deserve each other...just never reproduce please, for the kids' sake :killingme:

Maybe still a couple of years ago, but no longer I can assure you. Simple reason: Testing agents wanted more money for working on weekends, LTSA didn't want to pay more, so they stopped weekend testing altogether.

But if you can prove me wrong, i'll be happy.

Don't you have any friends you can leave the kids with?
Book it for Westgate and you can drop them here and I'll look after them whilst you do you test if you like.

Ok, I'll check it out. Thanks :)

Yes indeed, but they work during those business hours and I hate to impose on people. Saying this, a selfless KBer just offered to do just that on a Friday, so hopefully I can get a test on a Friday.

Much appreciated  I shall keep it in mind if the Friday thing doesn't work.

How dare they not be open at a suitable time to suit your needs..... There should be someone giving up their Saturday with their family so you dont have to arrange to have your kids looked after for a while to do something you want, when you want it.

I personally know two professional nannies in the Auckland area that may look after your kids for you while you did your license test. They would have to be paid of course, but there's an option...

You know what? If I didn't want my licence so bad, I'd do it just for the laugh...can you imagine the examiner's face :killingme:

Angelina wouldn't mind, she's totally hooked on the bikes already.

Would you mind PMing me their contact please? I'm willing to look at all avenues.

Do you have a car? Do you have someone who can ride your bike?

OR

Do you know someone with a car if you don't?

It's pretty easy really. Practice with this (http://www.robmathiowetz.com/) and you'll see the solution I'm seeing.
