It was only a little climb but it didn't agree with the DT

<img src=http://webcoda.com/images/bike/IMG_7610_640.JPG>

The twist starts at the front of the seat - pity its a welded on subframe

<img src=http://webcoda.com/images/bike/IMG_7613_640.JPG>

I read somewhere that the front wheel works better if it lines up with the handlebars..

<img src=http://webcoda.com/images/bike/IMG_7614_640.JPG>

oh well it was a fun day anyway...

For me or the bike?

should be now - I fooked it up (like the climb...)

oh - and Bruce must have pinch flatted his front - was flat by the time we got to the fish and chip shop...

Looks OK to me, but then my eyes are closed most of time in fear when I ride.

Seriuosly, the forks should pop back if you undo all triple clamp bolts, both sets. Not sure about the rear but should push back.

we re-aligned the forks with no problems but all the pushing/twisting in the world wouldnt move the sub frame. I'll strip everything off and get some big bits of 4x2 and a sledgehammer

So....I made the right decision not to ride with you today then.

How did you manage that? I gather the bike cartwheeled?

you would have had a blast (well maybe not on this little bank) - where are your priorities?

And yes it cartwheeled and was stopped very abruptly by a tree ( too much throttle - too much traction - and a nasty kicker at the top of the little bank.

I missed seeing the bike gymnastics but did I see Mark's barrell roll as the finale! And I don't recall hearing him swear - incredible but true.

Threads like this make me glad you failed at talking me into a dirtbike! :laugh:

Bummer about your bike Marks.... expensive to repair something like that? or just a brute force exercise?

Bloody hell Mark. I thought you were the twisted one, not your bike.
Luckily we know where there is a wrecked DT230. Let me know if you want the sub frame.

Great work Marks,

Straight lines and alignment are not really necessary these days. if this had happened on the KLR you could just get another rear subframe. Job done

Haha. Nice work Mark.

Good luck fixing that. I did similar to an XR250 years ago. I managed to sort of straighten it, but it never handled the same afterwards.

glad you're OK Mark - shame about the little DT though - had a 'moment' myself yesterday whilst out with a group of GS riders in the 'rapa - Motomart / BMWOR ride - my moment was on the seal after barreling through the gravel from Hinakura to Admiral Rd - had too much momentum going into a corner, locked the rear wheel and ran wide - narrowly avoiding an 'off''

Here's some video of the infamous bank. Mark was the intrepid trailblazer and after his demise we cleared some branches & rocks for a smoother approach. I got half way up & was pushed to the top, nana style. Bruce was determined to make it up unaided & was sucessfull on his third attempt.

Frightening how quickly it can go from fun to 'oh shit' - glad you saved it

Here's some video of the infamous bank.

Its hard to see how such a little bank led to such major carnage.

Got the bike fixed yesterday but it was a major effort - it had bent just behind the rear shock top mount and the top frame rails had 'Z'ed at bit as well as twisting. will post some pics tonight.

the rack didnt survive.

I'm a bit sore (tweaked my neck/back doing that barrel role) but should be ready to ride this coming weekend :)

That's an impressive quick turnaround for the repairs. I only managed to clean the bike & strip the rear tyre off.
It sounds like you need nightly doses of medicinal rum & a hot wheatie bag :doctor:

Something that came to mind while i was looking at the new tenere 660 at macs yamaha - one piece frame. (no takers yet, it's been in his showroom for a month or two)

The resurrection looks real good. Those laser guided frame jigs were really worth the $$$. Did that fix the frame compression as well? And why 'the blue banana'?

Managed to get hold of a yoshimara offroad pipe and got a local muffler fitter to weld up the extension between header and muffler, he did a great job and fits just right.
Compared to stock standard the pipe is a lot louder with a nice deep rumble, power low and middle range is so much better than stock way more responsive no lagging at low revs in top. Happy days

To be fitted stage 2 carb kit, stainless header bomb, airbox ducts.
Will post up pic
