Coromandel Ride<br /><center>5th June</center>

Some of the folks from up north are keen to see this Coromandel place so we are coming down to the big smoke to try it out. We will be doing the complete loop, so plan on being out most of the day.

This ride will be for anyone who's keen to come, all speeds(we wait at all the turnoffs etc)no probs with slower riders.
WARNING: I will make it clear right now that there are fast paced riders amoungst us and there could well be the odd wheelie or two, so if you have a problem with either it may be advisable not to come. Otherwise we welcome all others.

Meet at the Papakura Autobahn at 9.30am, ready to leave by 10 sharp.
Prolly go via Clevedon (passing through about 10.15)-> Kaiawa.

This will be weather dependent of course....I'm not real keen on the wet, I’ll keep this updated. :niceone: fingers crossed.....
I've got a couple of whangerei-ites here so this is still a go. :niceone:
OK.Sunday 7am.We're ready,weather don't look too bad :niceone: so it's all on.....no wimping :cold: out now..... :devil2:

the only reason the will only be 1 or 2 wheelies is due to the fact that your wheelies last for kilometers.....

Im keen, and should be able to come...

You should definetly come along. The Coro loop is one of the nicest rides I've been on. And despite what his name says - "Death" is one of the best guys to go riding with. The chap has helped me out heaps and I've learnt a ton of information from just talking to him.

WEll what can I say... but
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ok I am over it... I should be back riding in July....hopefully.

Hey you all have a great ride.... I have been and done the loop twice now and all those that havent ridden it will love it.... On the top of some of the hills there are the most amazing views to see.......
Oh and watch out for the bees... they like to sting ya over that way...lol.

All I can say is that Death does the most amazing wheelies... at a fast pace..... so be warned please do keep an eye out for the orange beast coming up from behind you.... Death caught me out once whizziing past me doing a wheelie....

Slower riders enjoy the ride and ride only at your pace, especially on the twisties..... :ride: :ride: :ride: :ride:

You all have fun and I shall look forward to seeing the wonderful pics.

Damn! Coro is the bestest place in the whole world (in my small world). I used to live there, and have driven between Coro and Thames about 200 or so times...and ridden it about 10 or so since moving back to Auckland and getting my bike, and I don't think I'll ever get sick of it. Adding in the loop across the hill now that it's sealed is just magic!

Work on the weekend dictates I won't be there though...have fun guys...

Naa, they are both good riders. There is no pressure to race at any ride. Unless the rider decides for him/herself.

Tink and I have just been down to Whangamata on our bikes and came back through the gorge to Kopu, a little damp but great roads in that area. We didnt have time to go up round the top to Corromandel, would be great to do it with other riders. My bike went into the shop today but should only be a minor, told the mechanic I needed it back by Queens Birthday weekend. Hopefully Tink will be able to make it too, shes working Saturday and Monday, but she will try to squeeze it in.:ride: :ride: :niceone:

Probably between 300 - 400 km for the whole day from Manakau, depending of course on the route taken.
Its not unusual for me to cover 600km for a day if I go to the coromandel, but I live ages away.

Also as well as if you dont like long wheelies..or being overtaken (like some the other week on 22) or people going a teeny bit over the posted limit, then I suggest you piss off home and stay there.
No fucking whinging after the ride that you felt pressured and you crashed or any of that shit.
Come along if you want but you are responsible for yourself, nobody else.

Bull shit - you guys should be more responsible. You make people feel too pressured.

I remember you last time threatening one of the newbies if they didn't keep up with you with a bomb that would go off if they dropped their speed below a certain limit.

And also you pulling wheelies all the time making newbies think that it was wrong to ride on two wheels, except while stopped.

Also what's with shooting at police cars as they passed you by???

You're setting a Baaaad example..............

Ah fuck i wish someone told me that last time i went for a road ride with Death 5 months ago or so.

Oh yeah i'm in btw, going to be a kin busy weekend but it's all good, haven't been out Coro for longtime and im missing it badly. i have no plans to put the TL to rest round there either for those wondering :ride:

I'll put my hand up and say that i'll be more than happy to cruise at the back with any newer guys that come along for a good part of it and help with lines or give tips etc etc, but it'd be rude not to eh stretch the legs of the TL a bit and um give the front tyre a rest at some stage along the ride, i got a new clucth to eh bed in ya see

Nope, can't keep up with him - he rides like a loon ;) I'm presuming it was him overtaking us when we were heading back from Raglan via SH22 - kept expecting to come round a corner to find him in a crumpled heap. I think we've seen you somewhere near Miranda doing a wheelie (we had a discussion later about whether the bike was orange or red) - I was impressed but had to remember to watch the road, not my mirrors (we were heading south, wheelie bike heading north).

Well, that’s the first time I’ve been labelled a hypocrite. The post for which I was "bad repped" was a piss take and actually had the sentence, "P.S: For all the idiots who take this seriously - this is a piss take. SpeedMedic is one of the nicest guys."
Hence when Jonno by mistake took things pretty seriously no doubt due to him being tired after a long day I leapt at the chance to call him an idiot. He is the first ever KiwiBiker I met and he has helped me a lot when I was buying my bike and with my learners test, etc. So I know him and his background quite well and know how far I may go when innocently jousting with him. I'm slightly surprised seeing you act as his advocate when he needs no standing in for.

I know Rhys too pretty well and have met him on several rides and think he’s a pretty swell chap as well, I feel he has a great sense of humour and a stand up comedian type attitude to life.

Winja I have not yet met but he and I have quite a few funny little harmless exchanges on the forum where we try to try and make each other look more foolish by picking every thing under the sun to tease each other about.

Felix and I share a love for similar aspects of automotive culture, which has resulted in many an interesting conversation, which inturn helped me get to know him a lot better personally and I must say he and I have always been on the best of terms. Inaddition he has offered me a lot of advice on several rides, which has greatly improved my riding and helped me.

Now maybe it’s acceptable in your personal environment but from back where I come from it is VERY disrespectful when a stranger insults your mother.

Compared to the others you are a complete stranger to me.

I was quite surprised when Rhys responded to my comment calling him a four eyed genius with the statement: "I needed all four to satisfy your mum. She's a thirsty wee lass." Whatever that means it didn’t seem too offensive, "typical Mr Skid, " I chuckled to myself. My initial comment to Rhys was in response to one of his characteristic wisecracks. No hard feelings yet. But then I noticed that he changed his "bike title" to JSG’s mum…. that raised my ire slightly but he has now changed it back.

You first responded to a comment I made poking fun at Felix and portrayed yourself as some sort of authority figure, your language was filled with a lot of connotations from the Star Wars movies; not too surprising and actually quite witty given that the latest Star Wars movie is currently in theatres.

However you next post:

Damn straight, he best step correct and leave yo momma out of this. Everyone knows she's my biatch

Me and WINJA do have a standing gentlemen's agreement and take turns. We only let Mr $kid come play with one of the aunties.

Did make me feel rather indignant. I tend to get a bit sensitive when someone calls my mum their "biatch" and says that they have a standing gentlemens agreement "taking turns". Especially when that person is A STRANGER who I’ve had next to no connection with on KB.

I’ve read quite a lot of posts on KB and cannot really remember any that matches yours for its combination of degenerate delinquency.

Piss take or not - would you have said this to my face?? Well you practically said it before 2000 people. Sure WINJA has his moments but his posts are always laden with innuendoes and conjectures and never as blatantly demeaning as your outburst.

Next you call me a mindless, foul-mouthed, helpless-hypocrite suffering from a compulsive tendency to unleash a series of rank rants at every available opportunity. I fail to discern how you came to such a perspicacious conclusion.

You also mentioned that "unlike me" you think before you act, yet unless I am mistaken it was you who chose to juxtapose yourself into an online conversation that did not concern you with a rather "potty mouthed" intrusion.

So now I wonder who is the charlatan [mebbe this could be your next handle??] releasing mounds of compost.

I would like to request you to please refrain from including any members of my family in any rejoinder that you deliver. You may however include me in any tirade with as much vehemency as you desire, as a matter of fact - go for it.

Aiight, nuff red sed in dis thred. Mesa gonna listen to Uncle Quasi’s advice ‘cos he’s big, bald and evil. And he has an evil green bike.

I shan’t continue on this subject beyond this post and be vilified for simply being the last man in with an already worn in “yo momma” gag. Well enough post-whoring has already been done, by my meager standards

JSG, you sweating it too much fella. Look around, this is an InterWeb forum. My tender typing fingers and eyes are surprised that I have provided the worst example of “degenerate delinquency” (nice wordsmithing by the way :niceone: ) in this thread, let alone throughout all posts in KB land. Like my cousin Wong from Hong Kong sez: “rerax”. Dunno, it might help going to bed earlier? And big, long RSI inducing posts like your eloquent response might wear you out for riding.

At least some KB readers have had some entertainment, eh Kawagreen?

What a day, what a ride. No one else seems to have put a ride report so here's mine:

I went to bed at about 4am after putting the finishing touches on the ZXR250, finishing touches you say, yeah well anyway. Got up again at 9am, (not a morning person at all) Got me shit together knew i wasn't going to make AB by 10am, so missed the first group leaving there, thinking i'd have heaps of time to make up i stuck to SH2 then off to the coromandel with my bum up and head buried behind the fairing, hang on i had no fairings, anyhow by the miracle of not seeing any police en route i got to kopu by 11am, only to find the Hammy posse and a group from Morrinsville. No auckland crew, after waiting 15mins we all figured someone had chucked it down the road already, but no, they all turned up just after 11.30am, feuled up we all took off towards coromandel township, i started at the back and was slowly working my way up the convoy along the waterfront, and got clear road for the first hill, right time to see what this little sucker can do...

Not a hell of lot it seemed, the brakes were non exsistent, she weren't no TL for sure in the power stakes but it was a hell of alot of fun to ride, i caught upto sAsLEX and then a few others going into coromandel.
The climb up the hill saw me and twosmoker ring the shit out of our bikes in a vain attempt to catch John, (we can dream can't we) I make my apology now to anyone i duffed up going along that strecth of road some of my passing moves were a little keen......... so yeah sorry to anyone who might have an issue with that. Once we got off the hill me and chris basiclly had the throttle pinned all the way to whitianga, with no fairing i was stuck at 150kph on the flat, although i saw 170kph on a downhill, wayhey........
Lunch at whitianaga, blah blah.
750Y kindly lent me his GSXR1000K3 for a blat, and i took that all the wya to Kopu, holy fucken shit, those bikes can get along alright. I wont go into details but those who saw me knew i wasn't dicking around, it's one fast peice of kit thats for sure.
750Y gladdy gave me my beast of a ZXR back noticing there was one bolt holding the muffler on and the hanger had come loose earlier, arrr she'll be right mate, and i tottled off home, well to work. Halfway through Miranda and the ZXR picked up about 100 decibels as the muffler bounced down the road, dooohhh, running back to pick it up, chcuked it on my lap and then hightailed it to 750Y's place hoping, praying no cops saw me cause i wasn't exactly discret (not to mention the no WOF or Reg, ooppps). Made it with Dave not far behind, unable to fix the bike he lent me the Gixxer again to get to work.
Work was fricken busy and i was sore as #$%^ from being squished up on a 250 most of the day, i now am in the most pain i have ever been in and i can't walk very well.
But it was all worth it indeed, fantastic day, fantastic ride, and fantastic people to ride with, meet heaps of new faces and was great to get out on a KB ride after 5 months out of it.

Hope to see you all soon again.

Well first point you flew past me not caught up, must of been the fastest you saw on that thing all day, cause you sure didn want to break at the bottom of the hill!

The stoppies coming in to whagamata probaly didnt help the muffler much! how was the flatspot in the rear from your Mr Skid style backing it down a straight piece of road?

And lastly thats all the pies you've had over the past five months doing that to you

ZED, best bit of the day was coming down the hill eastern side of Coromandel, was all on my own and John caught up to me so I waved him through then tried to follow him through some of the tight 25/15 type stuff and managed to keep him relatively in sight, with him only pulling away when we came up on some "backmarkers" and my passing opurtunity was ruined by two nutters who shall remain unamed on a 250 and a 150!!

All in all a good day, seems no one had a camera, first time out after ages off the bike, well faster stuff so was good to get back in to it, was tired on the way home so held up some poor guy on a CBR600 forget your name, but we ended up having to ask a couple of lady cops( who had gotten a flattie and were waiting for someone to come fix it) directions once we came out of the gorge in papakura!

Awesome wheelies too Death. First time I've seen them with me own eyes, although I was only ever close enough once to see a nice one at Miranda

Was a great :ride: , with a decent dollop of :sunny: served up. Especially for June. Now then, who's gonna claim to have the special (and successful) relationship with the rain god: Quasi or TS?!?!? And farkin 'ell - there was a lotta bikes! Someone get a pictorial account up soon please!

My apologies to whoever I was talking to and appeared vague or distant (erm, even more than usual...). I've had tinnitus in the right ear since Saturday and couldn't hear you. Only a fierce high pitched tone :(
Particularly to 750Y. Sorry Dave, I was meaning to chat more, but just couldn't hear shite. And I wanted to ride with you guys, but just couldn't keep up with you and Kawagreen - you were obviously keeping your finger off the reverse turbo trigger

Bike of the day has to be Torque's K5 Thou

Funny guy of the day: the Bruce of Loose. He must have run the equivalent of a marathon alongside the ZXR, trying to get it started  And I'm not even counting getting it going from westyville during the night!

My aim after this ride is to not squidify my bike further. No, it is to have it as spiffingly shiny as Kawagreen's! We both agreed that is why he rides at the back - he's stopping with his polishing cloth every 5 minutes! But I gonna stick to using my tyre pressure gauge fella :nya:

See y'all out there :2thumbsup

Thanx all,it was great!
Thanx to whichever one of you sacrificed the virgin(or fembot)to the raingods to keep 'em happy :niceone:
Good turnout,23 of us at kaiawa, then the hamilton and morrinsville crew as well, with a huge variety of bikes from the k5 gixx to some cruisers.
Met up at the ab,good clean run to clevedon to pick up a few others, then on to kaiawa,a bit damp in places, going through some of the tree-covered windys had a bit of trouble with the rear stepping out everytime I tried to gas it up to pass someone....so eased off til it dried out a bit.
Had a re-group at kaiawa then on to kopu (not too many wheelies...had too many hp related scares down there...) met up with the others then headed clockwise round the loop, dried out after a short time so took off in persuit of TS and john, passed a few through the waterfront then finally got past TS over the hill, caught john who seemed to be cruising at the bottom, then a couple of wheelies later stopped at coromandel fire station for another regroup.
Then off to whitianga for lunch after starting off after half the group had another good run, pissed myself passing bruce on the mighty 250,lying flat doing about 20kph :Pokey: behind TS. Got to whitianga (never caught john.....)for lunch. Another flat out run trying to catch john and the boys who took off after me (I was up the road getting gas),never caught 'em though and stopped at the whangamata turnoff to see off those that were going that way. After a while waiting and seeing a Quasi and crew off I decided to head back to see where everyone was.....not too far back found MV and others trying to fix her bike, had a look and it looks like the rectifier had shit cooking the battery....bugger.One of the boys arranged to leave it at a farmers shed and Wonko gave her a lift home.
Good clean run back, just cruised back up 2 (it was starting to rain and we had to uplift the rugrat from one of bruces workers who'd kindly looked after her for the day)got home not too late.
A bloody good day,you all shoulda come.
Impressed with MV's riding, come a long way from last time I rode with you,and Saslex, again much improved on the 400.

Well it looks like I missed a great ride. Had good intentions (although I had decided I wouldn't do it if it the weather was too foul). Took the eldest son off to the Car Fair at 8:30 (poor lad has a very naive and totally misplaced confidence in his dad's ability to spot a lemon). By the time we'd finished it was too late to do the loop but I headed off to Kaiaua in the afternoon on the offchance of meeting up with you lot coming back. Surely, I reasoned, you would all come back that way? Well I met up with SpankMe and Nuanh and we headed back together. Bad sunstrike slowed me down through the twisties on the way to Kawakawa, a bit ironic considering the rain earlier. Otherwise enjoyable ride home. Considering the overall weather this weekend it was better than might have been expected, and you guys were very lucky to be able to do the loop in the dry.

Coro ride pics, great day. I have to thank the heavens for the radiator stop leak I used from the servo at lunch, (dont know what its called but its in a clear lip-stick shaped container) it worked a treat and got me home after a stone went through my radiator. I'll have it back on the road tomorrow afternoon.
Thanx to Death for organising

cheers for a well organised ride Death. Couldn't believe how many bikes we had at Kopu by the time we left! (must've been 40 odd?) I guess the clear weather had everyone on two wheels gagging for a dry road.

Had a great time despite a now fully rooted rear tyre and damp roads. I NEARLY lost something else (two gloves and jacket lost on one infamous coro loop ride last year) up the coromandel coast but happened to turn around in time to see my bungee cords holding my pack on had come loose. Course, stopping to tie it back on put me behind the second bunch and couldn't quite get past the bloke on the silver gixxer to give chase to death, TS & co.

made the mistake of taking too long to get organised leaving coro town too so again got stuck behind the silver gixxer descending whangapoa hill (why do some people not look in their mirrors?.. I have an excuse - mines fallen off!) but decided chasing the boys down the straights wasn't worth it and had the second stage to whitianga to myself. managed to make it back to Auck by 4pm as intended and only had two brief showers to contend with so really felt quite lucky to stay so dry!

Nicko - I'll be in this week to grab that rear tyre I think!

Bikes, bikes and more bikes. I have a few shots of them all, will upload when I get my computer set up at home. By my count there were 25+ from Auckland, 15+ from Hamilton, at least 2 from Tauranga, one from around Waitukaruru. So in total something in the regin of 50 riders.

Great day for it, first time around the Coromandel loop on the bike. Nice good ride to Kopu, and leasurly ride up the coast. Stoped at the firestation in Coromandel, and then it was blissful ridding up over the hill. Words fail, the best riding that I have done in a long time. I felt intune with the bike, anbd the road, and everything was just sitting sweet. Toes were scrapped on both sides, everything was sitting pretty. I remember distinctly a group of us passing a red SS Commadore ute, all of us, including the ute, past license loosing speed.

Enned up taking mv-senna home as her bike decided that it had had enough for the day.

All in all, the best day out on two wheels in quite a while.

Thanks Death for the great view of your undercariage before Kopu in the mirror.

I had a good ride, gave John the chase in the twisties, but was still hard to keep up with him wheelieing out of corners under power... He was kind enough to slow on the straights so i could have a good blast with him in the twisties...

Had one scary moment, was going down a steep hill, looked at the speedo (wont say what speed i was doing) look up, didnt see the bump, and had the hugest tank slapper ive ever had  came out of it alright albiet with a slightly sore shoulder... But other than that was all good...

Was going to go through Hunua with the rest of you, but the Rg has a mechanical problem of somesorts  (i think 25000kms of being absolutely thrashed does that) and i just nursed her back home the quiet way...

Rider of the day goes to John, FARKING FAST, but very safe as well. He was also very polite to cars when passing... Good to see that :niceone: Other rider of the day goes to Loosebruce!!! Man you crack me up, had great fun with you going to Whitianga!!! Both of us sliding it into and around corners hehehe!!!

Wheelies of the day go to Death!!!

Stoppies of the day go to Bruce!!!

Everyone rode very well, and sorry if i didnt...

Use the force Gah, use the force. Do not let the Sith Lord lead you to the path of darkness!

Yes Master Nhuan, I obviously must take care not to stray to the wrong side of the force. After I got to Kopu everyone started moving just after I finished refueling and didn't catch up as to which way home.

how is anyone meant to remember that NinjaBoy rides a CBR?!?! :weird:

Everyone knows you're after my handle... but I'm keeping it in the vain hope that one day I'll own another Ninja...

... but I'm keeping it in the vain hope that one day I'll own another Ninja...

:raghead: good on ya, we'll bring you back from that dark Honda chapter yet... :raghead:

Or you could gift me the handle :wait: - just kidding, why would I want a handle people could spell readily? I actually live for the abomination and variation of my name/handle :o

Good to see John made it right around this time..:devil2:
Had to content myself with a brisk little run back up from NP
Really enjoy the run from Urenui to Mahoenui when its dry. The Waikino gorge was good today......
I really must take more notice of the speed meter in heavy traffic, as well .....

My thought on the cheese cutter barriers on SH1 between Meremere and Rangiriri....cops coming the other way CANT do a U turn to follow you!

when you change your name?? the gorge can be heaps of fun especially with boy racers to play with! turn at otrahonga then take river road from Ngarawahia north is a little bit better route north(come out at rangariri), more twisties less cops.

Oh yeah...been that way lately.
Only 3 cops on that road this arvo. Time before last had 5 cops between Te Kowhai and Huntly, FFS.
Tonite I didnt give a shit about cops, so the ones I saw ignored me - at 130k+...why was that????
