Golf Balls that is...

Wondering if there are any geniuses; academics (in physics), or professional golfers out there?

The question:

Which travel’s further; a hot golf ball, or a cold golf ball?

The argument:

My friend states his golf balls go further when they are warm, to the point he wraps them in a heater between holes. He states he gets more drive from the softer squishy dynamics of the ball.
I disagree as I believe a cold hard ball has more rigidity, therefore more energy, power and a straighter trajectory.

My theory:

With a soft ball, power is lost when the two objects connect, as the soft ball would absorb the impact of the hard object before take off, as well as affecting its trajectory in flight. Where as, with the hard ball the force on the smaller object would provide more energy and make it travel faster and straighter in flight.

So who's right?

Things that keep you awake at night..

P.S - Not looking at atmospheric pressures affecting flight, just the drive and trajectory in normal conditions.

I would also think the hard ball, seeing as it wouldnt absorb any of the enrgy?

You're the type of person who can't sleep at nights worried about counter steering aren't you?

Just hit the little shit as hard as you can!

If that does not work - drink more beer then hit it again.

Tiger Woods often rang me for advice, he recently fired me though as when he asked me "Allan should I tap that skanky hoe" I said 'hell yes, just make sure you have a strong wood' - problem was I thought a skanky hoe was a new type of golf club ......... I put it down to cultural differences.

I'll be here all evening offering good sound advice......

If your having problems with or are unsure about your balls, you need to get them checked by your GP!

Any minor issues could cause serious problems further down the course.

I don't know any Golf Professionals (GP's) but I'll seek one out in the Yellow Pages..

Isn't the point of golf ball being full of rubber bands that it absorbs and stores energy which helps it spring off the club face. There fore more of the inertial energy of the club head is transferred into the ball before it moves.

I'm thinking that if the harder ball were the way forward they would make them so

there are only two important holes in golf, the 19th and the wrong 'un. the wrong 'un is for that "other" week of the month.

Depends on the quality of your swing. Golf balls are made of softer and harder compounds. Pros use harder ones. Sunday hackers should use softer ones. I much prefer the feel of a softer ball off the club than a hard ball. Softer balls are more forgiving. A hard ball will go further but if you're not a great golfer then a small deficiency in your swing will be magnified by a hard ball. Not much point hitting it further if it's only going to be further off the fairway.

In the second video, did you see how much farking around the ball did?

I mean had that been a hard ball perhaps it would have shot away like a rocket?

I wonder if they were cold or hot balls

Irrespective amazing footage.

O bugger (no pun intended) I had though they called that a FACT.

As in if you miss the fuck hole and get the muck hole, you're in the shit, and that's a FACT!!!

I make up for you slo.
When I was practicing regularly, the only guy that could beat me at the range in Elerslie racecourse is Scot Styrus.
But I'm banned on race day. I admit it. I was aiming for the Ambo. There is no way I thought I could hit it. No damage, hit the wheel, but it was tense there for a minute.
300+mtrs. Moving target and nailed it like Rambo fires bazookas at Commies. It's a stationary hole in the ground at 20mtrs that has me ferked.
