Hey ho,

Mrs Mully got me a second hand Navman S50.

Unfortunately, it didn't come with the software and the maps are a bit out of date.

So, does anyone have an S50 (or compatible) who will be kind enough to lend me the software and maps?

Beer will be provided if anyone can oblige.

TIA

I might be wrong but is the software in the unit?
Have you plugged it into the computer?
As for maps go to the website as it is user specific so somone elses might not work.

Yep, the software is in the unit - but it (like most software) gets out of date.
Maps are interchangable between some units - you are correct that not all the Navman maps are interchangable though. S50 maps are the same as S30, S80, S90i, S35 and S45.

I need the maps more than I need a software update - but I figured if some generous KBer wanted to lend me both, then that would be awesome.

Going to the website gives the opportunity to buy the maps. Unfortunately, I'm as broke as a broke thing, and therefore don't really want to pay $179 plus freight for the new maps.

Do you have maps at all? or are you missing them full stop?

If you have them already, but want newer ones, you will have to pay for them...if you are just missing the map / desktop dvd then I'm sure if you call Navman someone could help you out.

I've got old ones on the GPS. Which work, but are out of date.

Unfortunately it will cost you to upgrade them. The device and maps are locked down so you can't just use a mates newer maps.

Not unless your device qualifies for a free map upgrade...you'd need to check out their website for that though.

I'd doubt it - it's too old to have free upgrades.

Bollocks. Someone told me that the new maps on SD cards can just be slotted into any machine. Makes sense that they'd lock them though - to avoid cheap bastards like me.

Didn't Jrandom work for Navman some time back?

"Work" is such an ugly word when used in regard to Jrandom.

He might have, now you mention it. Don't know how far back that was though.

A few years back now....3 or 4, can't remember.
