The Germans and the Argentinians look the best so far. And one goes home next round. The Argies vs The Germans - two radically different football styles. I tip the Argies!
Argentina vs Brazil final.

Seriously. When did England last win the World Cup?
It was a long time ago.

England have a new coach...
It's waiting for them at Heathrow.

Supporting England is like buying a lotto ticket, you hope for so much but get stuff all.

On that performance we didn't deserve to come away with anything and if you call 0800 414141 you will just get some mad German dude laughing his head off!

I'd think that any Kiwi having a go at England's inability to win a second world cup in their national sport is in dark coloured kitchen implement territory...

Well, suitably gutted......not by the fact that England were taught a lesson in free flowing footie this morning by a hungry and motivated German side, more so because we failed to turn up for this tournament and were made to look like a bunch of part timers.

We have the skill and talent within English football to win this farking thing, so it's about time we did. We do harp on about 1966 (I was born in April 1967 so I am a result of a psot match 'celebration') but it was the only time we got into the final.

Bring back El Tel, he was a fecking legend

Ah well, the dream is over for this World Cup, but we still love them lads, eh

Thats the World Cup, must to better next time....

I don't agree with ya there... I thought the performance was good enough, reckon we woz on par with gerry... could whine on about the missed goal and how we had to go in search of a goal etc... but apart from the first 10 - 15 minutes, I thought we were looking pretty good, for a change...

ah yes, I agree there. I was more on about the result rather than the performance.

No, we don't...and we certainly don't have the mental toughness required. Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry....they're as overrated as they are overpaid.

I'm talking about what is didplayed week in week out ine the toughest league in the world, the Premier League. Yes, these guys cant pull it together so well in an England shirt, but we did qualify with two games to spare and showed the lesser teams who was boss (the same as we should have seen in all our group games)

If I know the answer then I reckon I would be worth a mint, agreed that there is frustration at a bad OVERALL performance in this world cup, but we have the talent, it has to be used.

German peformance today was a lesson in attacking and composure......fecking hun....

Unfortunately Max, the type of football and footballer that makes English football the best to watch in the world, is not the type that wins major tournaments...probably would have won the thing a couple of times if we hadn't won in '66...

all the superstars from the other teams play in that league as well and the germans have lots of attacking experience

Performance anxiety at World Cup time just like the ABs. They get the shakes and are so scared of 'failing' again that they go off the boil.

Germans deserved to win although the margin was a little flattering. 3-1 would be fairer. They played some beautiful football ... much more attractive than they have done in the past and I wonder if that's because unlike England, there were no great expectations of them at home so they just went out and played football.

Can't see it myself. Not until they get an English manager. How the fuck can you have a national team managed by a foreigner ? It makes no sense to me whatsoever. I have just watched the post match interview and he can't even speak English FFS. Give Psycho the job now and give Capello the arse. Then you can ditch 90% of the current squad. The only decent thing I have seen of Crouch is his bint in that other thread.

I gave up after watching the Algeria game. Truly dismal performance. And that's coming from a Notts County fan, so I know what I am talking about. And obviously for the same reason Sven is exempt from my nationalistic rant.

As for Germany, I was impressed when they played Australia. Not sure where the England defence was. That third goal looked as if the Indian bookies may be involved if you ask me.

Mike Bassett for manager anyone ?

I tend to agree, any country should be managed and coached by someone born or from that country, mind you GH did Wales, and whats his face coaches Aussie Rugby. I guess they were desperate.

I swear they were involved in more than one footie game this world cup...!!!!!!! But heh without proof... like camera's to make it fair... how can you change things? I heard the Fifi top dog controls the no video situation, isn't it time he retired!!!!!

They certainly needed the eloquent halftime speech that Bassett gave against Mexico.

Have you heard what the crowd are fucking shouting? "Fuck Bassett!" "Bassett's a cunt!" "Bassett's a bastard!" "Bassett's a wanker!" They shouldn't be fucking shouting at me, they should be shouting at you, and do you know why? Because it's fucking half-time, and we're fucking 2-0 down to the fucking Mexicans! What the fuck's wrong with you? Get your fucking fingers out! Where's your bottle fucking gone?

And fucking pay attention you cunt, when I'm fucking talking to you! If you don't wanna wear the shirt, fucking take it off! There's thousands of kids out there who'd die to put that fucking shirt on. Get back on the fucking field, show those bastards what you can fucking do, or you can fuck off home on the fucking plane! You got that?

I don't like swearing, I find it offensive, but that scene was a fucking classic.

Osama Bin Laden has just appeared in a new tv message proving he is still alive.
He said the English football team were fucking shit and full of excuses.

British intelligence have dismissed it ,saying it "could have been recorded at any time during the last 40 years".

I think you'll find that most people in this thread are English, apart from Swoop obviously. Anyway, that's a trick question. New Zealand play in the soccer world cup.
