View Full Version : Where the hell did my WoF go?

I checked my rego and warrant about 3 days ago because I knew they were both coming up to be renewed. Got my bike out just now to give it a damn good clean and my friggin Wof ticket is missing. It was there 3 days ago! I can't for the life of my imagine how it could have gone missing unless its been lifted, which I doubt. anyway, its due on the 10th day of next month.

In the unlikely event that I do get pulled over, can I say that my warrant is still valid until then? even without having the little slip. Can they check that? Of course I will renew it before its due. Just means about a week of riding without the actual slip of paper.
If I do get a fine, anyone know what I would be looking at?

Just go and get a copy of it from the issuer.

The parking wardens may give you a fine if you leave your bike parked on their turf. If you do get 3T with a cop they'll just do a QVR and it'll show up as the WOF being current.

Do you know if it will cost me much?

What is the chance of you being pulled over or done over by a parking warden between now and the 10th of next month? Therein lies your answer - do you feel lucky?

Not a lot and one hell of a lot less than a fine for not displaying. Of course you could probably get off a ticket if you then went and got a copy. You call it. How likely are you to be picked up for it?

Yeah ... a lot of weird crap happens in Auckland. Not to say it doesn't happen elsewhere!

yep, you're right, thanks for that. I ride my bike every day so, my chances of getting snapped are better than average. However, having said that, in the 2 years that I have ridden my bike "full-time" as my only form of transport I have only been pulled over once and waved through 3 checkpoints.

I would just leave it, if you get pulled over tell them that it has only just disappeared and you will get a replacement pronto. Even if you do get a ticket I would have thought if you go and get a replacement sticker straight away they will let the ticket go.

Just photo shop a new one along with the rego

You could always go in and get the new WOF check done now.

A WOF can be postdated up to two weeks if the check is done before the old WOF expires.

Failing to display WOF is a $200 fine, irrespective of whether your WOF is current or not.

Getting another printed (you don't have to go through the actual test, unless as Katman says, it falls within 2 weeks of the due date) should be very simple and cheap.

Thought only the testing stations (VTNZ etc) could do that?

Anyone who's authorised to issue WOF's can do it.

My wife's rego and wof went missing a few weeks ago. I though it might have been stolen and was going to raise the alarm, but then though it might have just fallen out.

Maybe they are being stolen by poor people who can't / don't want to pay ACC tax?

ive gone in and asked for the date my WOF was due, as i am slack about putting the new sticker in the holder if i dont have the right tool and had misplaced it. she wrote me up a new sticker for free, which was good of her.

Yeah, this.

Katman got there before me.
