Okay, fess up. Who put a liner in their jacket this morning, or in the last week?

I didn't have mine in on the way home last night and I swear to god, my chest has never been so cold. :cold: So, on with the liner this a.m. (god, what a wimp  )

So who's hard enough??

you big girl.
and i rode in jeans this morning - and they're soaked.
now if i could find a way of covering the big sidi logo on the sole of my boots - i wouldn't get busted in business meetings as having motorcycle boots on at work....

Hey Krayy, how cold was it? When I was commuting a couple of winters ago (20k's each way) we had one really cold week. The day time temp never topped 8° and it was -6° in the morning. The ponds I pass on my way in were frozen over. And I work in Marshlands, where the morning temp is always lower then the 'official' temp. Heated grips came in handy that winter :cold:
The Inuit say it is not cold until your urine freezes before it hits the ground.

According to the dash on the VifFerraRi this morning at 8:10, it was only 10 degrees, so I didn't have my heated grips on. But I've had my liner and neck warmer thingo in for a couple of weeks now.

So what?

I've had hypothermia before, and I think the combination of that and communtering in D'Auckland traffic would be a very quick way to broken limbs, or worse. So I'm quite happy to enjoy the benefits of my motorcycle gear, and to arrive at work dry, warm and (relatively) happy.

It's a hard road being a tough man, SpankMe. :niceone:
I wear my summer glubs all year round, if I can. Hate thick gloves under my paws.
But I wore the hated Orina (or is that Urine-a?) 'waterproof' gloves today. Grrrr.
Grrrr grrrrrr.
Time for them to get eaten by the chain or summat. I hates the nasty little Urinas I do.

I heard to was pretty warm up there. :whocares: Down in the Naki the weather is shyte, but I find it too hot with the liners in my gear. I'm not hard or anything, just don't like to overheat...

I started wearing my neck warmer a couple of months ago, I think without it I tend to get a sore throat easily. And I wear a wool jumper under my jacket rather than the liner (unless it's really cold and I'm going on a long trip). It's easier to get the jacket off with the jumper than with the liner, particularly if I'm a bit sweaty.
My pants haven't got any thermal liner, but it's not too bad since the commute to uni isn't way to long.

No liner in the jacket, but I did have the liners in the trousers!

I can wear casual clothes most of the time to work so I generally wear layers which I can remove at work rather than liners in my gear for commuting.

Looking over the top of the 5 story concrete wall next to my window I can see blue sky now! :niceone:

its not the cold thats bothering me, its the way I have to use different gear each day to let the previous lot dry out! haven't resorted to the glover liners or balaclava yet but the winter gloves are the only waterproof ones I own so will be used almost exclusively for the next 4-5 months I think!

A dehumidifier is brilliant for drying gear overnight without damage through excess heat. Warm, dry kit every morning. Lurvely.
Not to mention the warm, dry bod at the end of each trip. But then I wear TEXTILE. Hee hee!

Where's the option for 'I'm a super wimp and took the cage'?

I took the car into uni last night, for the first time in nearly 8 months. Didn't fancy the 100km round trip in the rain / wind / dark / cold.
It did feel good walking around without having to lug all my gear around though.

Got a parking ticket for 'angle parking' (WTF?) as well.
That'll teach me for displaying an extreme lack of hardness.

i've got a cheap pair of bib pants/jacket that i cut the liner out of (to pack down smaller) they keep me dry and warm and i can still wear my 1 piece. the only problem with the violators is finding somewhere to put them while i'm at work

I've put the liner in the jacket for the past week. As well as winter gloves (but that's mainly because my other gloves aren't water proof). I wear work jeans under the overpants so I don't really need the liner there.

Hmmm. I'm wanting to get my bike fixed so I can wear warm, dry motorbike armour to work - bit of a bitch walking 40 mins in full wet weather gear (get to work and find that while the rain didn't get in, your clothes are wet from sweat).

Spending the winter struggling along in bulky clothing or rain gear doesn't appeal to me - not when the bike can carry the extra weight with no effort on my part.

One of the problems with winter is what to wear/carry - dress for cold in the morning and find it's raining in the afternoon, so "just in case" you have to carry rain gear and (because it's warmer in the afternoon) have to carry the warm clothing back. My bike gear is both warm and waterproof so it copes no matter the weather. Don't have a removable liner so in the summer I pray I don't get stuck in traffic.

Here's hoping I get the bike running properly soon before we start getting some real cold like -6 degree frosts!

Having spent three consecutive summers in a row, two here and one in Brisbane, I am feeling the decrease in temperature, but not while :ride:. As soon as i get to work and take the gear off i start feeling :cold: . I think a few more early starts at Ardmore will soon fix that, bring on the frosts i say.
Remember the decrease in temperature will make our bikes perform better due to the density increase of air, so there's always a bright side.

I threw my liner in a few weeks ago, I was riding a bit late at night and liked to get home warm. You can call me wimpy son, but you can't call me stupid.

Well, I can't say I've noticed it being cold lately in Dorkland. I'm still on summer gloves, no liner in leggings , jacket doesn't have a liner (well not a detachable one anyway, and I wear it all through summer).

Admittedly I've been taking the Whale lately cos of all the rain, so I don't have to mess about getting all my wet gear on. If the rain drys up a bit I'll take maybe take Li'l rat bike and see if it is really cold or not. [" SHUT UP will you I said 'maybe' - and you won't be going anywhere if you don't stop racing round the gargre overrevving yourself like that. No, you can't have a Dunstall mega, I don't care how butch it would make you sound. Now shut up and go and idle in the corner"]. Sorry about that, he sulks when the Whale gets all the mileage.

:ride: Ride 50+ks every day. Liners have been in the draw since I got my kit. Put a jersey on if its REALLY cold, though haven't seen any ice this winter, so jersey usually stays in the tankbag. Wear the balaclava most days, unless its REALLY warm. Still wearing summer gloves. (have been all year...)

its not time for the liner to come out until the burn index is in the red by 9am.
