View Full Version : Carburetted Hyosung performance kits (jets+) - More power and nicer sound

Morning,

Looking to buy one of the Ebay GV250 Performance kits.
It's mostly new jets, but also comes with tools, instructions to get it done and upgrades for the air box. Apparently it gives about 8% more power, a nicer sound, a lot more low end torque as the GV250 is run lean in order to meet emissions standards.

Also has info on modifying the stock exhaust to push the extra power through, and choke stops being necessary as you're running the bike richer in general.

Here's a 41 page thread of Americans buying the kit at $129 four years ago and apparently it does all of the above and they seem to love it. Started 2006. Replies all the way up to 2010.

Basically, shipping is $25USD for unlimited numbers with 5 day delivery, so wondering if anyone else is interested, can split the shipping, and if enough are interested could even ask for a bulk discount. Separately they're $58USD each.

Could even set aside a weekend and get them all installed at the same time. I could easily empty out the garage for a day and make amazing coffee.

Edit: There are also kits for other Hyosung, if not all of them. Basically if you have a Hyosung, throw your interest in and we can ask for a bulk discount.

The crowd be like what's he on?
Because I rock it from the start til the beat is gone
Not in the mafia but i'm the microphone don
And the words that I shoot out my mouth are teflon
Jeru never touch ya microphone wrecker
Leave out in the stretcher step up into my sector
Try to match wits but the mental will crush ya
Jeru the damaja, the suntoucher

Whats a "MAIN JET RESTRICTOR"? The needle?
and he wants to sell you a special tool to remove the needle???

Sounds like a lot of words to sell a kit that's pretty basic.

Yup, but the jets are that price anyway and quite a bit of searching has said they aren't in NZ for Hyosungs, so what can it hurt to have extra stuff thrown in?

I can get main jets in NZ for $5 a pop. The other jets should be avaiable too I would think. There nothing special about the hyo carbs.

His pictures basical show you what to do if you want to use his methods. I can't being a pro light GT250r rider, (rules), but main jets are certaily worth changing. And don't just follow the factory rule of 'one size up' on the rear cyclinder ether. Each cyclinder is it's own engine. Jet it as such.

So what size drill do you use on the Throttle slides?

Found the website for the guy on Ebay.

http://www.lccycle.com/about.html

Front picture makes me laugh, he's super imposed his business name on the building. Pretty much screams bullshit, but then there's a good three other forums with scores of pages of results.

And according to the other forums, it uses about $15USD worth of parts so it is pretty expensive when compared to the parts themselves, but the price comes with knowing they are exact parts, and photo instructions for it all, I'd personally rather not take the risk having never modified a bike as they also go on to state you can't buy parts for the carbs, and have to replace them completely if you fuck them up.

Spend that money on a faster bike.

$80?

Had a faster bike, wanted a more comfortable bike that doesn't top out at 150.

Im interested mate, just took my 2008 for a spin, tops off around the 120 mark, big issue was the lack of down low balls. Not too bad though for now, but I cant help but have the feeling I wont want to put up with it for too long.

I have done a fair bit of research on the kits from Larry Cook. They do improve performance mildly, they help the bike breath better too, and you can actually hear the exhaust after the conversion.

Keen as mustard mate, althoug I have never replaced jets on a carb before.

Heh, well I ordered mine yesterday, but can still set up a date in which we can get it done as I have a rather large garage, haven't replaced them myself before, either. The instructions are apparently rather detailed, though I would recommend going for the Ebay one as I ordered one off his website and the reply just seemed unprofessional and screamed bullshit. Thus ignored the order and did a buy now on Ebay, that way at least it's covered by Ebay buyer protection.

Not sure if it's the same guy but there's a lot of good feedback for the Ebay one.

Only 120km? I wonder why it tops out so low, even stock they should be hitting 140/150.

After much struggle and seven hours of work

(Screws on the carbs are rusted up pieces of junk, sadly couldn't find M4 10 and 14 socket screws to replace them, if anyone sees any give me a yell, replaced them with regular stainless but wouldn't mind swapping them again if only to make it that much easier in the future to clean the carbs)

Got it installed and it does make a hell of a difference, as pointed out there are cheaper ways to do it, but as I've never rejetted a bike I was happy with the piss-poor(but not complicated) instructions. Now to modify the airbox and considering a bafflectomy.

If you have a Hyosung and don't know what you're doing I definitely recommend it, but get it done whilst it's new before the screws have a chance to solidify. Else you'll need to remove the carbs to get them out like I did.

No choke needed and no popping when decelerating plus a tonne more torque, albeit haven't yet tested the top speed.

Not a sausage sorry, all I know is the drill piece will be in the foam cube that has my old jets etc with it. Which you would think is easier to find, you'd think anyway.

I pulled my carbies apart the othr day for a look, put shims under the needle and drilled out those 2 holes, I used a 1.5mm but, and it took a polish off the holes... not noticably bigger though. Slight improvement in the 6 -8K range, I think I need bigger mains though...

If you do find that drill size, let me know as I dont mind pulling the slides out again...
