View Full Version : Strange/Recurring Dreams.

So I wouldn't hijack the thread about memories, I thought I start this one.
As a child I had a few recurring dreams, one in particular walking through a city with my mother that had massive damage from a bombing raid and being chased by men with machine guns. These started when I was really young, and it wasn't until later in life I recognised my dream as that of an English town and the men being German soldiers.
But, the most significant dream/experience still spooks me to this day. I say experience, because not only would I get this feeling in dreams but while I was lying in bed awake. Used to scare the crap out of me then, and still does to a degree today. Anyway, the feeling I got was of my left hand feeling much larger than my right, and feeling like I couldn't move it. To clarify, it felt like I could move it a little, but that it was enclosed in a very thick substance that allowed minimal movement but nothing more than a few millimeters in any direction. Didn't think too much of it as a child, but from October the 21st 1997 it had a new meaning. It is exactly how my left hand feels now, larger than my right hand and restricted by a thick liquid in movement. See, I can mentally move my hand a few millimeters in any direction, although not physically. In fact, sitting here right now, shivers up my spine as I 'move' my hand in my mind experiencing the same sensation I felt 23+yrs ago. Who knows eh?

Good idea on the 'Dream thread'. As a child of around 7, I used to have a recurring nightmare about a bookcase at the far end of my room. In my dream it would grow taller to the point where it became topheavy & then would fall on me. Later on as a teenager, I had a little? session with Mr Barcardi :puke: and when I woke the following afternoon, I'd cleared everything out of that damned bookcase except the heavy stuff on the bottom shelf. Funny how the mind works.

Shit OAB- that is spooky.
Recurring dreams eh?
Once I had a dream that I fell off a bike with red and white block stripes up the tail piece (like Yamaha used to do), at a roundabout in Chch. I was OK but the bike was very damaged. All my freinds from school were there (which would be odd as I went to school 4 hours drive away).
Some time later the RZ250 I was using for a courier run was getting tired, so I was looking for another one. I deliberately didn't by a TZR250 as it had the paintwork mentioned above. Then the old RZ died and I had to buy a bike immediately, so I bought an FZ400R from Tommys. Comically I fell off it the next morning on ice on a roundabout while on my way to buy a film "to get photo's of it before I fall off". I was fine, the bike had some minor damage. I eventually rode it to see my mates from school, who recently moved into a flat just down the road from mine. It wasn't until I was leaving that I realised the FZ had the same paint job as the bike in the dream.... eventually as a result of the minor crash the fairings started cracking resulting in much plastic welding and a complete repaint, costing me $$$$

When I was about 8ish I used to have a recurring dream about riding a red white and blue motorbike north through the Lewis Pass. On the way down the north side there were 2 cyclists riding up the hill and a truck over taking them. Then a car overtook the truck leaving no room so I rode off the edge- big drop. Hope that doesn't happen! I did fall off the red, white and blue RZ in oil while going down the north side... maybe that was it.

When I was about 5 I had this dream where a bunch of big spiders kept attacking us (me and my brother and sisters). Not really hurting us but scaring us and making it so we couldn't sleep (I was dreaming about sleep go figure...) Anyway this went on for several nights. (As in I was actually wwaking up the next day then dreaming again the next night) Finally I got tired of it and the next time I had that dream I had a few surprises for them spiders.
Sure enough the dream started and when the spiders shoed up I grabed this sword that I had under my bed and started to fight with them. Was one hell of a battle, they got a few hits in on me but I mannaged to chop of a few legs. They must have decided enough was enough so they vanished. I stuck my sword into the floor to remind them that they had better not come around anymore.
They did come back when I was around 9 however. Me and my sword were ready for them though.
About a year or so ago I saw a sword that looked exactly like mine in the dream. It's under my bed now.

I had a dream a few weeks ago I was being chased by Samual Jackson :weird: maybe I had watched pulp fiction or something before lol
And one I had a week ago was about how I was a retangle and it was the end of the world.

I dont know if this is common or not but I often have the realisation during a dream that I'm dreaming.
That is to say, I know I'm dreaming and feel like I can control the dream and guide it in any direction I choose. ... to some degree.
Unfortunately as soon as I realise this I tend to wake up. I guess it has something to do with being "closer" to conscoiusness (sp).
The scary thing is somtimes I'm convinced it's a dream and so I behave accordingly ( do what ever I like) and then the sensation that "I got it wrong, this isn't a dream" freaks me out. - Very confusing.
I wonder if thats what it's like for crazy folks ... they behave however they like in reality because they think they're dreaming....
Who knows .... I think theres alot more to dreams then simply a distorted collection of memories and experiences.

I frequently have dreams where I'm close to getting killed, and I can always remember going "@%&*#, I'm going to die! Wait a minute, this is a dream!" And then from that point on I can control the dream however I like.
My favourite one so far was when I dreamt I was a soldier, and we had to fight these russians on the rooftops.
All was fine untill I jumped through a window into a room with a Chinese guy. I asked him who he was, and he drew out a Russian military passport thinga. He then levelled his pistol at my head. This was where the "@%&*#, I'm going to die! Wait a minute, this is a dream!" happened. So I asked him if he could kill me with a knife. As he went to get his knife I backflipped out the window, and swung off the railing into, smashed through the window below. That's all I can remember.
Wierd, I know, but I can still vividly remember it.

when i was 9yrs old i had the same dream about three times - me and one of my mates trying to break into a swimming pool shed, i decide to use a chainsaw to cut through the back wall, unbeknownst to me scott had managed to get inside and when i was cutting the wall managed to cut his head off. All I could do was say "oh man...... sorry." when he died 9 yrs later i tried to read something into it but nope, just coincidence.

Seriously.....
for the last few days, I keep on having this dream about this nice girl that looks like one of my friend when I was in uni. She has these red apple cheeks, smooth skin and brown straight shoulder-length hair and is smiling at me. Her skin feels warm and unnaturaly soft to touch (sort of touching a candy floss).
In the dream, we sort of saying goodbye without words. But everytime the ending is the same....I said "go" softly, and *POP* I'd wake up.
The thought stays with me even when I'm awake.
Maybe it's because the winter chill and my hard bed....
P.S.
....I hope mrs.Marmoot wouldn't read this thread. The winter chill would be much colder.......

Hmmmm, Marmoot, sounds like you are having a dream about a nice girl with apple-cheeks, smooth skin and brown straight hair. I suggest you stop watching those "late night shows" :msn-wink:
