Sad news.

It didn't look good in the race. I had to go to bed so didn't watch the MotoGP race and then to wake up this morning to this news is very deflating indeed.
Pretty gutted for everyone concerned, esp family, Alex d'A and Scott R.

Can you please tell me if it's safe to read that without seeing the main MotoGP result? Haven't watched yet.

Are you able to paste in the relevant stuff here?

This is such a loss, Shoya was shaping up to be a real superstar. If you get the chance to watch any onboard footage of this guy racing you will see he was always the first person to get on the gas and he rode HARD. His persona off the bike seemed in contrast to his riding style - always smiling and waving, even if he had just been involved in a pile up!

Not a good week for motorcycling. RIP Shoya.

Cant believe they moved the riders so quick then dropped the stretcher!!

The report during the race was that all riders were fine then i hear about this thats terrible! They even did lots of replays cause they thought he was fine

What a horrific accident and a very sad loss of life to such a very talented rider.

Yes I agree I think that race should have been red flagged they moved Shoya to fast and dropped him, not a good look, Sadly I knew from watching that what the outcome was going to be I really feel for Scott at the momment as he will be taking it hard

There's an article on motogp.com regarding why they didn't flag the race.

Regardless...tragic. RIP

Very uncool, the accident was horrific to watch. I really feel for Shoya's family, team and both Redding & De Angelis who could were helpless in what unfolded. RIP Tomizawa. :bye:

Very sad to hear this news. Haven't seen the race yet, but this will put a dampner on the excitement M2 ussually brings.
Sympathies to the family, friends, motogp paddock and all involved. RIP Tomi, you will be missed :(

What a brutal crash. RIP Shoya Tomizawa.

I couldn't believe the Marshalls just shovelling the injured onto stretchers, even Redding who had shown some movement weirded me out and as for dropping Tomizawa :shit: I know shit happens in panic situations but FFS.

Yes, it must be very hard on the other riders involved. Cf. Andrew Pitt in the Craig Jones crash a couple of years ago.

RIP Tomizawa San. Things like this happening makes me appreciate just how Lucky I and others are to have our lives

Positive thoughts go out to the family

I was devastated with this news. He seemed such a cheerful happy young man off the track and such a fast and talented rider on the track. He had become very quickly my favourite Moto2 rider. The accident was horrible to watch. Somewhat reminiscent of the Craig Jones crash leading to his death (and I guess similar to how Peter Lenz was killed the weekend before). With so much track safety and gear safety there is still the horrible inevitability of the consequence of being hit by a following rider at speed.

Tragic indeed. I was impressed when he won the first ever moto2 race, and couldn't believe it when I heard the news. Was a great rider and real character off the bike. RIP Shoya

Just watched the race this evening, what a horrible crash. He and De Angelise (Sp?) was/is my two favourites in the Moto2. Shoya was always such a nice personality to have around the track. Really horrible. However, other than dropping his stretched which was an unfortunate accident I think the medical team handled the situation well and the race was managed well too.

I've just seen the crash, very tragic for all involved. Shoya was one of my riders to watch in Moto2, to me the rest of the season now has a shadow over it.

A lot of serious injuries and now a death in MotoGP this year, must be a tough time for all involved in the sport.
