View Full Version : Mrs Stig busts her leg

Honestly...what a pisser~!
We had a caldina that had done less than 1000km in a year coz all we did was ride the bike.
So, I sold it after replacing two batteries in 12 months coz I figured we didn't need it.
Well, the missus has bust her ankle. No way she will be on another bike till New Year at least, so the beautiful bandit had to go to get us a hospital taxi.
(It was all just coming together too)
Is there a moral to the story? Probably not, but if I hadn't flicked the car because we didn't need it, I mighta still had the bike and a Caldina and not a stupid Nissan sedan.
However, any suggestions for what I should be looking at for my next 2 wheels will probably be laughed at unless you are more intelligent than the missus.
(Or swap for a late model Cefiro)

Blackbird? Stupidly reliable like a honda, good 2up bike, assuming that's what you want.

Sprint 1050 are a superb bike, do it. Blackbirds are also a great bike.
Hell, I'll ride anything on a day like this.

Ridden the boss's one, granted it has sorted suspension (ohlins rear and racetech front), aftermarket system (stock pipes and headers are really heavy), removed the centre stand for weight loss.
Other than that, only problem was the torque. So much, I had no idea that burbling in 6th towards wellington meant I had a chat with mr cop who didn't believe me I didn't know I was doing 136
Only speeding ticket ever... evil bike, brilliant at long distances.

But, the crack likes me.
I regret selling my GN all those years back.
I could have kept it for a paper weight.

Which is why I thought of paper weight.
But, seriously, wonderful little bikes.
If you're a f*ckwit
Take a BlackBird for a tootle, they're great.

have just spent a bit of time looking at pics of the 'bird, and honestly i reckon for the same money ya get a much sharper lookin' bike with the sprint.
i think i would far prefer the zx14 if it came down to a jappa

Even considered an MVX250? Nicely balanced V-three. Almost like a GB400 rode into a Ducati and and dropped it's cams/valves on the floor and got a bit gay, really gay in fact. Or a big Bandit, because there is nothing like being beige.

i should slap ya for the big bandit comment, but hey there's nothing as good as movin' on.
for the record, the wife has read your comments and suggests that you go back to eating your boyfriends ass.

Do I have to eat it more than the usual three times a day?

If you're serious about a ZX14, a guy at work will have one for sale shortly.
Only 5K on the clock, beautiful in a metallic blue similar to my 675.

mrs stig said give you a high five
you have started an erection
(cans need a good chop though)
after a second look, with a budget of 12-13ish, (and actually want some value for dollars) I do like it but am being drawn back to the sprints.
can anyone think of something suitably similar?

I'm damn serious pierre, but im also at least 10 weeks away :(
If you can, keep me up to date though. We are really considering buying new (is a bandit blaspheming?) so it would have to be something special...........
or i buy two bikes. a tourer and a 'tard maybe? i like the dorsoduro alot and could still get an old trophy maybe.

actually not a bad call mate, but i think you are probably right. 2 up they might not quite cut the mustard.
whats with you and the hondas? and you haven't suggested a hornet?
before you do, i do like 'em (and great value for the bux) but the newey has to be full fairing i'm told.
(oh yeah, and in my opinion four cylinders should be in line)

actually both are a real consideration. i like the fz, she likes the fjr. i can scratch up the 'takas on the fizzer, we can fit a tent and her make-up bag in the fjr. does anyone need hair? coz i'm pulling it out!
it still comes back to not any of them being a triumph though.

The trumpy is hard to beat. I'm going through my mind-bike-encyclopaedia and not pulling anything great out. I'd say Hayabusa, but, last one I was on was bloody uncomfy. What about BMW's? :innocent: Whats a K1200R worth these days?

Yeah the beamer has come into my thinkin' aswell, but again it would be a shitty old dual purpose (f650) thing to do the commute on (and tag) so we could still have something nice in the garage to actually ride when we wanted to. The only thing holding me back there is the ridiculous money their owners think they are worth!
I would like to drag race bikes, and the 'busa is the biz for that (actually know a boy wiv a supercharged pig), but it ain't happening in the next year or so.

So one of these is out of the question?
So a multi-purpose beats with a bit of get up and go? I doubt a BMW F650 would fill those shoes, the KTM 990 are a twin, as are the SV1000 based thingy. What about a Yamaha TDM?

Personally out of all of the mentioned I'd go with the Sprint. So pretty, comfy and versatile. Oh and that noise....
