End of Feb sees several aucklanders heading down to Dunedin for the TT2000, so there will be a few bikes around, depending on where in the south island you'll be.

You do realise this is not going to put him off. It will just arouse his, and many other's, curiousity. Now they'll be coming down in droves. I could head off a few as they come down Gentle Annie Hill and detour them:whistle:

Yes, please do. As Gremlin says, there'll be enough North Islanders down here already. TT2000, then a week later the Southern Cross starting in Bluff. The roads will be absolutely crowded, and there will hardly be any room in either of the pubs. :wings:

but what if they sneak off down the Kaikoura way, that is the most delicious bit of road and the scenery is spectacular. But, sssshhhh, don't tell anyone.

either way, there's less people full stop, with great scenery. *cough* I mean they're all arseholes and SH1 between Wellington and Auckland is waaay better.

Ooooh ooooh ooooh cool trip. We've been down a couple of times with both bikes and look forward to being able to do it again some time. End of Feb prolly won't be good for me (school and all) but nice to dream about!

but what if they sneak off down the Kaikoura way, that is the most delicious bit of road and the scenery is spectacular. But, sssshhhh, don't tell anyone.
Last time we had a "spectacular" experience of a car on front of our bikes losing the 2 kayaks off it's roof just outside Kaikoura. Sphincter tightening experience for sure!

And worse - the place is full of non-North Islanders:blink:

Oi, do we smell or sumfink?

Who on earth can you be meaning?

Awesome time to traverse the south island, the weather is nice and settled, warm balmy evenings.
