Just on the news now, he has quit the Sea Shepard and denounced them, and admitted that the ramming of the AG was a PR stunt, ordered by Paul Watson.
I suppose that clears up any misunderstanding about that now.

And said that he told him to let it sink - very interesting interview on Te News.

It says here the 'scuttling' was intentional, nothing about the ramming. But they way it was presented on the news made it look like the whole thing was planned.

I read about this earlier this afternoon on Kiwi Blog.

I'm quite impressed that Bethune has put himself on the line to do this. The SSCS come across as a bunch of lunatics.

That simply isn't true. Heaps of people on here told us that the Japanese went and rammed him on purpose. I can't believe they're all idiots who couldn't figure out obvious the truth from the video

Indeed he is. Either he's prepared to lie to all and sundry while carrying out these acts, or he's prepared to spread lies about SS.

On its way to the bottom, I wonder if the boat* hit any whales?

Not the ramming, as you point out below.

News != truth. Having read Pete's statement I see no evidence he is suggesting that the ramming was a stunt, just that he was told to scuttle the boat and went along with that.
But then, it looks like Either(Pete or Paul Watson) != truth, much.
A disappointing and sorry affair. No heroes in this story.

Isn't there ways of raising awareness without lying to their supporters, sponsors and the public? And without sinking a vessel in the seas delicate ecosystem?

Ok, so if the truth doesn't work it's ok to bullshit? It's not the nature of the protest (violence) or whether it was law abiding, they lied to try to sell an image.

Good on Pete for finally admitting something I say.
Bloody sad that this was all found out AFTER a piece of NZ Maritime history sunk.

Big whoop. Not that I'd bother giving money to the jobless unwashed eco terrorists of ANY brand (Yes - they are a brand) but especially not now. Pretty hard to find any moral high ground here
PS - Yes, Bethune is a wanker.

Maritime law requests ALL skippers to take a responsible approach to travel on the high seas.
This also includes day boaties etc.
He was a cocksucker that risked his ife, and other peoples on that vessel.
Don't care about his whale loving, or anything else, but with regards to seamanship, he should never be alowed a flutter board from today forward.

obviously planned to the extent that if you keep going on a collision course with a much larger vessel you may actually have a collision. At some point you would pull away unless you actually wanted to collide with said vessel

No one else did anything about the Japanese whalers bullshitting the whole world about their science experiments. They just treated us like shit.
Bethune stood up for what he believed in and he was pretty agressive about it while the rest of the pinko lefty fcukwits had group hugs about it.
No point fighting fair.

Bethune was the captain, he could have said no, not like SS are a bunch of (eco) terrorists, or they happily put lives at risk for their cause....
I wonder what brought on this latest tanty, more media coverage? Or is he not getting paid out for the boat and is blaming SS for all that money sitting at the bottom of the ocean?
